what did you think of your intro? It was my first track day too. I had alot of fun.
I had no idea how serious the advanced class was. It was like the races, (i guess -never been)

I felt like a small fish in a big pond, out of my league. But after my first session a few people told me not to worry about people behind me and that it is their responsibility to pass me in a safe manner. I felt a little more comfortable my second session.
Also I was on a bike I have not ridden much. I picked up this old (1989) Ninja ZX7 for dirt cheap. I knew the owner who was the original owner and he kind of abandoned it. So I saved it and brought it back to life. Kind of neat to have a retro crotch rocket.
The only thing I like about the Ninja over the Buell; is I can actually see clearly through the mirrors. |

With all this track talk, I thought I'd ask rather than assume. Who or what organization puts on these track dayz?
I really only know of NESBA, there has to be other organizations that do track dayz. |

here is what I've heard about each. STT is similar to NESBA. mostly riding. in NESBA you ride 20 minutes every hour. 3 staggered classes.
in learning curves you ride a little less but you get your "race license" whatever the hell that means when youre done. IMO if youre just starting out and running your taped up street bike the only thing about a race license is you can brag about it later? A freind who has been to all 3 said they try to squeeze you in between races on an actual race day at the track. |

Learning Curves doesn't suck. It's a CCS race licensing school. They are not about track time but teaching the fundamentals of racing like what all the flags mean and how to enter and exit the track safely. If you keep this in mind you won't be dissapointed.
NESBA, on the other hand IS a track day organization. I've been a member since they came to the midwest 4 years ago. Great organization that stresses safety on the track. Lots of control riders and also lots of traffic since they've become so popular.
Two totally different organizations. You gotta decide what your goals are before you choose. |

well, Nesba taught us the flags, and certianly were adamant about track ettiqqette (I cant spell) and how to enter and exit the track. so I don't know.
I'm sure it's all good. |

While we are talking about first trackdays of the year, I did one 2 weeks ago @ Nashville Motor-Speedway , and to my surprise, there were 2 other Buells out there ! A guy who raced in CCS last year ( sorry , I forgot our name ) and Tom Bumpus ( owner of some sorts of Bumpus HD/BUell in M-boro/Memphis ). We all had great day, mixing it up on an Ok track - There are some pics here if anyone wants to check it out -

Hey you track day fanatics. Is anyone interested in a spare set of Buell wheels grey in color. They are complete with front and rear brake disc's and drive pulley. Also they have Avon street/track tires on them that have about 300 to 500 miles on them.
I bought them to see if stickier tires would help in Battletrax in 2003. I only got to try them out at the last event in S.E. Wisconsin at Suburban Motors.
I'm thinking $300 complete or if you are not fond of Avon tires I can take them off and then let the wheels complete with disc's and pulley go for $200.
Any future track days I may be doing will be on my ZX7. So I really don't need the extra set of wheels.
Anyone local (Milwaukee and surrounding area) can arrange something with me to check them out if interested. Sorry I do not have photos of them.

The wheels are for the old timers tube frame and worked fine on my 99 S3.
But Dan has first dibs on them, he emailed me first.
Dan has an X1 and the only reason he may not want them would be because of the rear wheel. I think the M2 and S3 have a narrower rear wheel than the X1 does. Just something to be aware of. But they are official Buell wheels. |

X1s use the same exact wheel as M2s and S3s so they will work fine on his bike. |

I'm showing my ignorance here but I thought the X1 had the next size wider tire than the S3 and M2. And that is what made me think the wheel it's self was wider.
Time to go home. |

The PM rims are 1/2" wider on the rear tire than the cast alloy. Otherwise, all rims from (I believe) 1996-2002 are compatible. |
