Exactly what would the seat height be on your XB9RRL? I haven't come across the low lightening in person yet to get any ideas...I'm only 5' also

How about a 883 custom, a lot of gals ride em.
They have a low seat.

If I recall it correctly, Dave's XB9RRL is about 1.75 inches lower than the regular seat height. The Daytona Ladystars give you about an inch at the heel, not much at the tip of the foot though.

Both Dave's magic and the boots made it possible for me to ride one of the bigger Buells. An 883 would have never been an option for me, but that's just me...

BTW, everybody just loves the yellow/white/black color scheme on my 2005 XB9RRL!

Gus, I would need about a month warning to get the bike done and suspension sent off to be done.

Dapeach,
We can make it work for you!

my last bike was an 883 hugger w/ the corbin short gunfighter & it worked very well. I could even ride friends comfortably. I'd love a lightening...now I know where to get one

I send the front forks to be reworked/lowered and mount a low shock on the rear.

I could really use a purple Blast trade!

Dave,
Looks like a next winter project then. Don't worry about it during the homecoming.

Norris, then i am looking at something that weighs 5-6 times her weight(883 Custom), not to mention handles like a tank compared to the xb's

Might take a little more than that.
I'd be happy to work up a quote for you.

the Sportster WAS a nice little hot rod, till they rubber mounted it and it gained 75 pounds. now it is a pig, sorry, but 575 pounds and 45 horsepower is..... just wrong. my wife put 11000 miles on her 883 hugger(old style, rigid mounted engine), and did tolerate it pretty well, but she likes her Ducati M620 a lot more. the ducati weighs 405 lbs wet, and puts down 60 horsepower. has a power band from 3500 to 10,000 rpm, very easy to ride, she says its like flying more than riding.

Jeremy,

Maybe we can work out a "Low" suspension parts exchange to equip a bike for your wife. I bought a new XB9SL for MY wife last year, but she's a bit intimidated with the Buell's power & handling, and has opted for a Beemer instead. I've got a BMW Boxer myself for touring, so we're doing the His & Hers thing.

I'm keeping the XB9 as my play bike(love it! and paid too much for it!) but now need to change the suspension to regular height (I'm 6' 240ish) via parts swap. So, if you elect to buy another Buell and wish to swap the shock/spring and forks (and lower fork bridge if your forks are 43mm) then let's talk!

I'm somewhat near you (in Oregon) so our shipping costs will be less painful.

Mark
