So I took the big bolt out that hold up the front of the engine, put some locktite on the new one and went to screw it in. I started it with my hand about 1-1 1/2 turns then i moved onto the allen wrench but it started to get tight, real tight. I took it out and tried it again. Same thing. Tried putting the old bolt in same thing is happening with that one now. It doesnt look like i crossthreaded it on the bolt, but i cant see in the threaded hole. What should i do?

Also the bracket that goes around the fork doesnt seem that it will grab that much. My old damper went above the triple tree clamp where there is a lot of flat spot but the new one goes under it and there is only a very little bit for it to clamp on to that is flat. I put it on and tightened it up and it seem to hold good but I just want to make sure it is correct.

Did you support the engine before you took the isolator bolt out?

If you didn't, you're lifting the engine up when you are fastening that bolt. Not only that, because the engine rotates the holes are not aligned and it will naturally go heavy. It may even damage the parts.

Now if you did support the engine and the isolator bracket's hole for the bolt is aligned with the hole in the frame I would suggest to remove the isolator bracket and try to peek in the hole in the frame with a flashlight. Clean it out if necesary.

Another thing; where and why are you using loctite on? The manual states to lubricate the bolt on 2 spots with anti seize. Loctite on the bolt will do the opposite. The manual does state to use loctite, but I understand that is only on the insert in the bracket. If that is damaged you need to install a new insert and use loctite on that, but not on the front isolator bolt itself.


Now on the fork clamp for the damper, mount it and see how it will hold. The reason you don't have much to mount it on is because the instructions should tell you to raise the front of the bike a few millimeters (lower the forks in the tripples) to give you more room to mount the clamp.

I didn't because I did not want to alter the geometry of my bike. Consequently, your fender may get some damage, see my installation here.
