Yeah, I'm looking forward to that, gonna adjust the primary next weekend, and change the trans oil. Lucky me. lol Oh, yeah, now I know why ya call it a boat anchor. I cant wait to ride w/ the Jardine. At least hold the Jardine to see the weight difference. I cant believe how heavy stock was/is. Just weight alone, she should hit 115 mph stock. But u guys have known that for awhile now I guess. lol Live and learn. (Message edited by jerzydevil on April 11, 2005) |

After looking at it for a while, I figured it out. At first the universal was on too much of an angle to work, so I unbolted the shock and leaned the bike over on the stand as far as I could go w/ it, that pulled the shock down and made a clear line to the bolts. Still had to use the universal tho. Now I'm trying to figure if I left anything out of my preseason maintence. Changed oil and filter, changed trans fluid, and adjusted the primary.Oh, and checked air pressure. I jetted the carb, and reinstalled the PS air filter, just waiting on the exhaust, that should be here Friday. Did I forget anything?..........Hope not!

I've become quite adept at those foot peg bracket nuts! I get my U-joint on the socket, and a 6" extension to my ratched. I go after the bottom nut around the front of the shock and the other two behind/beside the shock. A little practice, and I can get those buggers in and out quite easily! Just did it last week. |

Are the exhaust nuts special? I seem to have misplaced mine, can I just use 5/16 24 bolts from the hardware store w/ lockwashers? I wasn't sure if they r made from a special thread or some odd metal. |

GEARHEADERIKO: Sorry I didn't see that question you originally posted about the harley drag pipe. I'm going to assume that if you could fine one cheap and you wanted to heat and bend it, you could tuck it under the bike. However, the pipe I tried, it tucked DIRECTLY under the right foot peg. Was no big deal until you tried to put more than a few newtons onto the rear brake lever. Now with rear sets, you could bolt it directly on, then you'd have to make a custom mount somewhere and you'd have about 3 inches more ground clearance. That's my biggest dilemma, my can is scraped to hell on the bottom from running over speed bumps. I think it'd be really neat to tuck the exhaust under the tail, but also blasphemic.....just day-dreaming there I think, as I can't bend pipe. |

Standard nuts on that exhaust. Works for me at least. |

BMHD: I knew you'd answer eventually! Thanks. Do you know if it was a Sportster or Big Twin drag pipe (I think both bolt up, but will be different lengths?). An under the tail exhaust would be sweet and could also be made the optimum length for performance (see elsewhere on Badweb for that discussion). I am working on a tail exit exhaust, but it wont be under the seat. |

My biggest problem would be actually going under tail, I was thinking I could use my jardine head pipe, then make a mid pipe that split and went through the swingarm, then joined together and just stick the can under the seat, use the bungee cord points as mounting points for the can.....but that's kinda heavy metal work that I can't really do.... The pipe itself I believe was a sporty pipe, but it could have been a big twin, my dad had a couple sets laying around, they were supposed to be his bike but he decided not to use them....sorry I couldn't be of more help. |

Ive had hell with that left foot peg too... Im gona need new bolts because Ive stripped them so many times. I have a 3/8ths socket drive with a 1,3,6,and 10 inch extension. pluss ive tried using a swivel... which is hopeless.... what has worked for me was using a foot long breaker bar with a 2 way swivel on it. this takes a lot of time. any tool I could go buy that would ease my pain ? |

The Kerker has got to go. It is painfully loud. I was thinking of repacking it, but that will probably only be temporary. I want to just change the can. Does anybody know of a can that'll bolt right onto the Kerker header? It doesn't have to be super quiet, just reasonable. Thanks. Steve |

NJB: I use 3/8 drive with a 24" extension with a flex (one piece socket & universal) socket. JLB: I think a Super trapp or White brothers could be made quieter than the Kerker but would probably cost as much as a Pro Series exhaust. If you can add an extension onto any of the aftermarket mufflers that would put the noise behind you and you wouldnt care how loud it was.I've only tried one which that can be done with but it cuts the power down to that of a stock exhaust! |

That's going to depend on the kerker header outlet and the new cans inlet. I think you would be best served finding one that is Buell specific so you wouldn't have clearance issues. Then again, maybe you could try dirt bikes cans?? Not sure on that one, but just a thought. I wouldn't recommend the Jardine can if you want quiet, it's frigging loud, the only time it's quiet is at idle...good luck! The quietest will probably be the proseries, but that's a full system. |

Ninja bob, do this... 1. Take your seat off, unscrew and remove the battery, then undo where the rear shock bolts to the frame and pull the bolt out, remember how it goes back together! 2. Jack the rear end of the bike up so the wheel is well off the ground (I just used a car jack on the swingarm and put the kickstand down so the weight was on the kickstand and front tire.) 3. Your rear wheel and shock should sit on the ground as the bike lifts, and after a couple inches you'll have a nice open area where you can take that left foot peg off. I've found that doing it this way is MUCH faster than trying to mess around and get those nuts off and risk rounding them with a universal joint. This is easier, faster, and safer for your nuts. The only thing is make sure the bike is jacked up SOLIDLY, as tipping it over would be a nightmare. Try it, it works for me. |

BMHD,NINJABOB, I just tried that the other day, if u jack up at the swingarm, the tire and hugger goes up to the fender and the shock mound comes straight up. If u lean the bike over on the stand holding a foot on the swingarm, the frame will rise and the shock will come out of the bottom. All u have ta do is figure out how ta hold bike up from that point. Mine had a happy balance point about 3 or 4 inches up, and it was sturdy enough to crank on the nuts to loosen and tighten them. The odd thing is mine didn't have the nylon locknuts on them everyone was complaining about. Guess the servicing dealer before I bought it changed them out. There is just 1 on there now. You can also change them for coupler nuts (nuts about 1" long used for joining threaded rod together). Will make life a little easier. Home depot will have them. |

I don't necessarily want a "quiet" muffler. The kerker is just way too loud. I want something more civilized. It hurts my ears even with ear plugs. I want something a little more civilized. However, with the kerker the bike does pull like hell. Oh well back to the drawing board. |

Cut the Kerker header at cross junction - clamp on a 6" to 8" extension over it - stepping it and clamp on a universal 3" supertrap with 21 discs - skip the baffle for more power - or use it to quiet it - mount with their universal mounting hardware or make your own. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

yeah and use an extension as both a step and for extra length - one of the coolest Blasts made used this system - the origional Crossroads Blast - - this is before their changing of the tail section and fairing - I actually like this better, and going to their custom rearsets - this is after - this is the new exhaust smoking tires - probably the stockers - lol It worked ok for them - I bet it would for you also - lol GT - JBOTDS! The Pro Series system is definitely not 'quiet' and can be had for about $175. The Supertrapp may or may not solve your problem, but would still be a good performance option (I've never heard a Supertrapped Blast). The real problem is the exhaust noise is right under your ears. You could run an open header all the way out to the taillight and have less noise to you. |

Gearheaderiko - the noise is obnoxiously loud for those riding behind also. Two days ago I was riding behind my friend, he was on his SV650S with a M4 exhaust, and he could barely hear his bike over mine ( I was behind him !!!! LOL) I can wake the dead with this thing. |

I am looking for a good deal on the Pro Series exhaust "The Pro Series system is definitely not 'quiet' and can be had for about $175." Any ideas on a good place to go. Dealer list is 209.00 I believe ? |

Check around w/ different dealers. Southeast HD in Cleveland has sale days a few times a year (20% off all parts) & on 20% on your birthday which makes it around $160. I wonder if Tilley could do any good on that one...? |

JLB: I had no idea the Kerker was that loud. The Pro Series definitely isnt and neither is the White Brothers. I had the pleasure at the SLO ride to ride behind both! (I've also run both!) |

Is the kerker loud from the install or does it get louder with time?? I've heard nothing but good things about them. I just bought an 02' leftover for my wife and Im trying to remove the "Deadspot" in the throttle with out adding to much. She is a beginner and I want her to enjoy riding !! Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Bob |
