I just bought a new '03 XB9S last week. My wife was riding it and we got caught in a downpour. She said it wasn't running right. I took it for a spin around the block when we got home and sure enough, it was only running on 1 cylinder. The 2nd one would pick up after about 20 feet in each gear. As suspected, once it dried out over night all was good. The bike was a demo with 155 miles on it when I bought it and now has about 600. Another concern I have is when starting it from cold, it dies like 2-3 times before it finally keeps running. It acts to me like it's not getting a big enough shot of fuel on the initial startup. It also starts hard when it's been sitting for 30 minutes or more after a ride. It starts fine if I just make a short stop (gas, or short errand). I know this is stuff the dealer can take care of, but I like to do my own maintenance on my rides. The cylinder dropping I mentioned above sounds to me like a plug wire. I'm new to Buell, but not motorcycles and maintenance. Thanks guys/gals, any input would be greatly appreciated. Bruce |

Found that when I ride mine in the rain, the front plug wire gets water in the boot. Dielectric grease on the end of the plug should solve the problem. |

That's exactly what I was thinking. I use dielectric grease on most of my weather susceptible motorcycle electrics. Thanks for the tip. |

They have new updated wires for the bike. Same thing happened to me. Replaced wires problem seems to be gone. |
