I have a new XB9R and with 300 miles I get a ticking sound at wheel speed from the front brake when warm. I checked the torque on the rotor screws but they were fine. Any ideas? |

I have the same thing on my XB9SX with 200 miles. Didn't found nothing yet. When I'll get a chance, I'll stop to the dealer to see if they can find something. |

If it is a ticking under front braking at slow to medium speed (under 30mph). The steering head bearing needs to be re-torqued per the manual. This is fairly common on XB's. |

My wife's 9 was the same way. The dealer took it apart and found nothing wrong. They said if I didn't go away at the 1000 mile service they would replace the front end, or maybe just the wheel 'y. She has 1200 miles and the sound is gone. g u s |

I have checked my front brake again and even if the bolts that old the disc are tight, I can move the disc a little bit with my hand. Is it normal??? is the front disk is rubber mounted??? |

Its a free floating rotor, by being free floating it helps to keep the rotor from warping when it heats up. If you are hearing the ticking without brake use but just cruising, then its the pads slightly brushing the rotor and moving against the caliper. That can go away as the pads bed in better with mileage and use. |

I hear it only when I brake. Thanks for the info about the disc! |

Again what your hearing is the pad bedding in, you culd also be hearing the rotor bedding into the sliders as well. |

You are probably right Wyckedflesh. I'll wait a few hundred miles before thinking to go to the dealer. |

My XB12R did that when I picked it up from the dealer. I loosened the caliper bolts as if to do a pad swap and found the culprit. One of the caliper bolts had to have a hundred pounds of torque on it. I had to beat the hex key with a rubber mallet to get it off. After that I put it back together and the sound was gone. |

I get the same noise from my front brakes, but only when riding in the rain. |
