I got these clip on bars from Crossroads for my '03 XB9S and the instructions are kind of vague. They say to take the lower fork clamp loose and jack up the front of the bike to lower the forks to put the handlebars on. But the new bars have 2 holes where the fork tubes feed up through a few inches, so I'm confused as to why I'd have to lower the forks at all to put these bars on? Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks

It makes routing the cables alot easier, once you have the bars mounted you raise the forks back up.

Ah ha, now that makes since. But I looked at how the cables are routed with the stock bars, and they are routed the same with the new bars are they not? I didn't think they were routed any different between the two bars. They sent me some pictured instructions, but the pics are in black and white and you can't really see what they're trying to show you

Its all about not binding up the clutch cable, with the forks lowered you can fiddle with it easier. Some people have done their own routing of the clutch cable thru the side brackets. When I had mine on, I didn't have any bind, but when I tried to mount the plate without lowering the forks the clutch cable got in the way, when I lowered the forks, it was no problem because I could then move the clutch cable out of the way until the plate was tightened down, then slip it around the top of the forks and position it where I wanted.

I got 2 screws in my left ankle and have a cast on my lower leg till atleast 10th of May, so I'm tryin to get some fun upgrades put on it to keep me busy and hopefully it will be roarin to go when I heal up, so you get better and I'll get better. Take it easy wycked...peace

start here for accident info then just follow each subsequnt archive for more info. June 2002 I had 2 pins put in my left ankle and a rod in my right femur thanks to a driver that fell asleep and slammed into my CRXsi. So heal up good and get back on two ASAP : D

My god bro, that was some kind of a nasty spill. I had something similar happen. This drunk butthole cut me off while I was on my bike, so I rode up next to him and knocked off his sideview mirror on his truck with my fist. He followed me into a gas station parking lot. So I got off my bike and had him down on the ground whoopin his and didn't see his buddy still in the truck. His buddy got out and did some kind of judo move on my leg and snap, crackle, pop, broken fibula and ligament damage in my leg. His buddy got his though, he had to be helped back to his drunk mobile and fled before the ambulance and cops showed up. But I got his license plate and they stopped him down the road and arrested them both for assault and for DUI, so it was a good night : )
