Yes they are. The fix is to not park facing west in the morning. | ||

The fix is to put a towel oy your gloves over the panel as it doesn't matter which direction as I have learned the hard way. | ||

Or don't put one on at all. I can't see putting something on my bike that I have to remember to cover my gauges up or risk melting a hole in the instrument panel. I have enough to remember as is. | ||

Yes, but in 12,800 miles and 1 1/2 years it only happened once and you have to look hard to see it. I think the theory of rising sun reflecting from inside the screen is correct. Just don't park your bike on a hot day with the sun to the rear of the bike. Frankly, I just leave my helmet on the triple clamp and haven't had a problem since. BTW: I find it really cuts down on the buffeting at speed. xbolt12 | ||

I have just started to use one. So far no problems. I live here in SC so this summer will tell. Appears most of the people who have had problems are in Arizona and Hawaii. Hot and tropical temps location. I also have concluded it is from the sun hitting the inside and convexing /focusing heat on to the top of the instrument cluster. I have placed self adhesive shelf paper (Walmart) that had a carbon fiber look to it on the lower inside portion of my Double Bubble. This to attempt to absorb & diffuse light and heat. Looks pretty good and was a cheap potential solution. Also, I use the small Buell Tail bag (thanks Daves) and carry one of those large worker kind of handkerchief in it (Walmart). When I think there might be a problem I stuff it in between the cluster and Double Bubble when parked. This way I do not have to worry about someone walking off with my gloves or helmet. Plus I have found it good to carry one of those large handkerchiefs with me anyway. Come in real handy I use it to help protect my neck from cold. To protect it from debris flinging back at me when I am behind someone (those sticky tires can be like a sand blaster). And when it is hot, you can wet it, then wrap around your neck and it works like air conditioning. Plus a lot more .... guess it goes back to the old Cub Scout / Boy Scout days | ||

Does the double bubble keep the wind blast off of the riders upper body/head? Anyone know about their touring screen, I am looking to keep the wind blast down, and am not interested in melting my instruments bake | ||

Warner on those cold mornings around my neck/chest. In summer I switch back to stock. No melting of gages when it's parked at work facing north. | ||

Bake - Vaughn is right. I use the Sport Touring Zero Gravity screen for racing. Tried the Double Bubble but saw the Sport Touring on the Hal's racebikes and tried it on mine, never went back. The Sport Touring gets you much more out of the wind and doesn't look bad! (In addition to pics below, you can also see it in my profile here) I can't speak to the magnifying glass effect on gages - but I'll toss a shirt or something over the windscreen if it's going to be in the sun - even with the tinted windscreen   (Message edited by slaughter on April 13, 2005) | ||

I would guess you are looking over top of both of those windscreens, so color won't affect night ridding? | ||

You really CAN look over the top without effort. It's a more natural riding position to have your helmet slightly above the top. You still have to sorta lay down on the bike to get under the thing. Link is a pic just starting down the front straight at Vegas, not quite behind the windscreen yet. There's still room under my chest and tank there. My Double Bubble was a marked improvement over stock, though obviously the Sport Touring model would be even better, unless at that height it caught you at the wrong place on your body. Had one on a VFR and had to trim it down. Caught me right below the helmet and the noise was terrible. I choose the Double Bubble for improved wind protection as well as I preferred the looks. But that is why they make Chocolate, Vanilla and Strawberry ice cream | ||

I ordered my Double Bubble thru mail order catalog - Dennis Kirk. I Think they have ST one too. They have an internet site as well as 1-800 #. Also they will send you a catalog /CD etc, or just call and ask if they have the one for your bike | ||

Wycked - even though you are dealing with AZ heat, getting a little more out of the breeze goes a long way to reducing fatigue. |
