Well here is what I have learned in my small amount of time on the XB(3 months). First to define STOPPIE: Stop at a point and arse end comes up. Indo: Keep rolling with arse end up. I can do decent stoppies, but haven't perfected indos yet. For a stoppie I started off slow 5-10 mph and sqeased the tank VERY HARD with my legs(or you'll sound like mike tyson) and grabbed front brake with full hand and began to sqease. Get use to how fast the back comes up compaired to how hard you sqease. Once you become comfortable( I use the term loosly)with that speed, go a little faster. No more than 3-5 mph faster at a time. Get use to the whole thing and have fun. And of course please wear the brain bucket and proper gear.

I learned stoppies on my mountain bike(yeah, with pedals). So the feeling of doing it on my KZ1000 wasn't incredibly scary the first time. The XB9S loves low speed stoppies which impress my friends and the gurl, but I'm 42 and have no intention of even attempting a rolling stoppie at speed. Call me chicken, call me wise, whatever. Wear protective gear and realize that having a 400lb motorcycle follow your a$$ over the handlebars will likely break your neck. |

First and foremost you must be willing to get hurt and crash your bike. |

My advice? If ya gotta do 'em, get a dirtbike and learn offroad. I'm sure lots of great stunters learned on the asphalt, but their bikes eventually get trashed and covered with fur. Do you want your bike covered with fur? |

"Call me chicken, call me wise, whatever." You're a wise chicken. Heh, heh. We're the same age and still doing stoppies (albeit small ones). I guess there are bold chickens, and old chickens, but no old, bold chickens. |

Thanks Guys I do them on the mountain bike and when I was younger on dirt bikes, just haven't got up the nerve to do it on a street bike. The Buell just feels nimble enough to do one. |

I know. The XB, with it's itsy bitsy wheelbase is hard to NOT do stoppies on. I was coming down the Westside Highway in Manhattan the other day and at each light I'd rirnghnrngdingh...you get the idea. The guy sin the car next to me kept looking and at each corner I'd reach back, slap the rear swing arm and say "Stop it damnit". I looked at them and said "I hate it when it doesn't want to stop". They were either totally confused (slim possibility) or thought I was off my rocker (fat possiblity). Too fun. LEARN IN THE DIRT. Court |

Two things...... World record attempts - stunters etc, reduce front tyre pressure for optimum performance. Getting it back down smoothly and balanced is the key to a good stoppie. Anyone can get it up. Too high and you let off the front brake. What happens next involves skill or luck! Rocket |

Wish me luck, I'll be trying this weekend. But very small ones to start with. Smooth release, is what I'm sweating. |

Norris I used to do stoppies all the time on my old gxxr 6-,but I did learn to to flip one first on a yz125!! My best advise is to get good lines for better feel. Its kinda like shooting you want to squeeze into the brake for best results. My longest was about 35 feet. I dont know the best way on a xb but I do know they have great brakes to do that stuff- If you ride wheelies you can do this too- good luck |

its not hard..make sure you hold the bike with your knees. that is what keep you stable and straight. also lock your arms and keep your head up..do not look down, look forward, you will still go where you look. if you get goin about 40 you can get a good 50 foot endo with no problem. with practice from 40 you can get around 100 foot. just work on being smooth.oh yea i forgot..get your butt off the seat. itll probally hover a couple inches off it when you shift your weight forward...good luck..let the brakes cool off after awhile as well |
