I rode an hour in heavy rain the other day. Today, as I was adjusting my clutch cable, water was dribbling out of the housing onto the adjuster. It made me wonder how much water was in there and how much made it into the tranny. anybody else seen this? I would not have noticed this if I hadn't pulled the rubber boot down to access the adjuster. |

yes they get wet there, front wheel spray is directed right at that boot. frequent inspection, cleaning and lubrication is in order. also wont hurt to put a snug cable tie at the top of the rubber boot. |

I have had water get into the primary/tranny on my blast that way before. I have not had my XB out in that kind of rain yet, but I check the fluid for contamination every so often just to make sure. |

I had the same problem with water in my clutch adjuster also.I was shown the cable tie method of keeping the water from running down the cable thru the boot,it hasnt happened since. |

A H-D mechanic who'd received Buell factory training showed me what he'd been taught: Get a tablespoon of white lithium grease and slobber it all over the adjuster before you slide the boot over it. Messy, but it works, and it sure helps you slide the boot. |
