I'm sure this has been asked 1000 times, but I'm looking for a little advice between getting an XB9 or an XB12. My last street bike was a 98 White Lightning, which was an excellent bike. It had just about the speed and power that I am comfortable with. I don't race or anything, just like to go fast, carve corners and do a few wheelies here and there. So will I be happy with the 9 or am I going to wish I would have bought a 12, or is there really that much difference? I had pretty much decided I was going to get an 03 or 04 R but now that I've seen the CityX up close I can't decide. I haven't test rode an XB yet, I guess I should have done that before I posted here. Hopefully I won't get flamed, be gentle guys!!! And thanks in advance.. PS - Daves, did you used to work in Waterloo? I haven't been on this board for a couple of years but thought I recognized the username. Either way, I'm not that far from you and am interested in what you have in stock. Thanks!!! |

I bought a CityX, I rode a 12 for the first time yesterday. I wish I bought the 12!!!!! Having said that, I'm still extreemly happy with my 9! I would'nt sell it to get a 12. I just like to wheelie! and a 12 is more wheelie friendly!! |

"GET THE 12 IF YOU DON'T MIND PAYING 4 TIMES THE INSURANCE OVER A 9" Foremost (through HD Insurance Services) doesn't differentiate between a 9 or 12 - I checked w/ them before buying my 12 and the rate was the same for either XB12 model or an XB9SX. EE |

what i am saying is that i asked about insurance from a bunch of insurance companies and almost all of them gave me quotes that were about $2200 on average for a 12r and on a 9r they avereaged about 450-500. |

Hey Baja-The 9 revs quicker&higher, and one test I read says it changes directions easier just by being a little lighter.I'm also told the 12 wheelies easier, and of course ,is torqier(word?)From reading your post,I"m just like you.I love the twisties at a good clip on a sweet handling motorcycle. In all honesty,I'm not that good at wheelies right now,but my xb9s is more than fast enough for me.Now that I think about it,I'll bet the guys with 12s love them, too. You really can't lose here. |

I'm with mellow. I don't "usually" try for the wheelies, but I find myself "up on one" quite often. Oh, no test ride yet.......take one and your'e done......just sign the paperwork |

Thanks for the responses guys, I guess it's going to come down to deciding what color I want and going from there. I've noticed there seems to be a lot of 2003 9's out there for sale, any reason for this? Is there anything besides the red wheel bearings and belt upgrade I should watch out for? Thanks again! |

Can't explain the excess of 03 xbr9's but I sure like mine! I went through the same dilemma and am happy with my choice. |
