Took the lightning out for about a 30 mile lunch ride. Switched pegs with my wifes firebolt, had a chance to try them out. Very happy with the new riding position. Stopped at the river, checked out the sandhill cranes, had lunch, and headed back to work. Revived and ready for the rest of the day. Spring is great! g u s |

I rode to the sub shop up the street and back (~2 mile round trip). NICE weather here (Charleston, SC) today. |

Rode to the nearest Blimpies (~10mi) then took the long way back... After taking the long way in (and doing twice the limit blew by a local sheriff who fortunately was out of his car) Only thing unusual about today is it's the first day I rode in w/o heat or fleece under the 'Stitch. |

Rode out to the girlfriend's house for lunch(4 miles from work), but due to a quirk in the space time continuum, it took me 45 minutes to commute back Man I love this weather. Its also good to be the boss and take an hour and a half for lunch |

Knocked off a quick 100 miles through the twisties yesterday at noon. Was an exciting warm up ride. Lotsa sand on the road in the tight stuff to make it exciting. Have always praised the X1 for its ability to handle sliding both ends without losing its composure. T-Storms later today should clear most of the sand and barring our traditional early April blizzard, the 2005 riding season is in full swing in Wisconsin. |

i just got the bike back from spidy's and started it, and shed a couple tears waiting for my plastics to get back from the painter.... had to wait till it got above 50 so wouldn't get condensation in the lines and ruin the paint gun... Hopefully will have it on the road this weekend.. YOU GUYS SUCK! I WANNA RIDE TOO |

Gus...Considering you are bringing you Bride and will be camping, is it safe to assume you will be towing your bike? If yes, see what you can do to get the wife to drive the rig while you ride the bike through SW Wisconsin. You can take a weeks vacation out there and not get enough of it. That is truly the best riding in the State. Virtually any county road in a triangle from Dubuque to La Crosse to Madison is sport bike heaven. If you are lucky you can get her to drive the rig both ways though that part of the State. Hell, if I were you, I would promise her anything for the favor! |

lol Outrider, Yea, we'll be camping. Maybe that KOA in Fond Du Lac... If we could afford a weeks worth of hotels we would ride. This is the first time in my life I have hauled my bike!, but just can't swing it any other way. Since we will be hauling TWO buell's I think the chances of her driving BOTH ways is VERY limited! As in it ain't going to happen! The best case scenario is my riding up and her back... g u s |

Gus...Lots of campgrounds out that way. Take a day or two and enjoy life. Check this site out for sport bike roads in Western Wisconsin. Trust me, these are just the more popular ones. LOL http://my.execpc.com/~ytk/wi.htm |

We had our first day of 70 degrees here in KC and yesterday after work I took the bike out and rode it without getting cold (first time that has happened). Didn't get back to the house till 10:30 last night. Ran a tank of gas thru it just riding around KC! |

Outrider, When is the spring slimy crud run? It's warm must ride. The girlfriend also has a distance capable bike now so now all we need is a dog sitter. |

Sometimes a few folks head down from the Twin Cities and sort of pass by your way. There's also a few folks from S&S that ride in so you should see plenty of bikes on your ride. |

I've talked my boss into taking our bikes (he rides a K1200LT) to Dallas for our sales presentation tomorrow. We leave at 2 today for Oklahoma City, go to Dallas tomorrow morning for a 3pm sales presentation, and then we're going to spend Sat and Sun working our way back to KC via Arkansas Hwy 7. 1,400+ miles in 4 days. YES!!!!!!!!!! |

Crash...The Slimy Crud is always the first Sunday in May and October. Plan to arrive at Pine Bluff between 10am and Noon and to leave Leland between 3pm and whenever. I like to get to Pine Bluff around 8:30am, have breakfast there and watch all the bikes roll in. You can meet some really fine folks from the industry at breakfast. You will also have first crack at seeing the unique bikes as they roll in and chat with their owners. See ya there! |

Bill, According to Jim's prior post at least one of the establishments has changed ownership and format, don't know if they'll be serving any breakfast. Unless you eat elsewhere or grab some drivethru on the way. |

Mike...The place I ate at is on the Northeast corner of the only intersection in town. Is a pretty small place with low ceilings and I can't imagine how they could have turned it into a T&A Bar. Well, not unless all they did was lap dances. Would think that the bar on the meeting grounds at Pine Bluff would be more suited for that purpose. Hmmm...wonder if the same PR Firm that transformed Used Cars into Previously Owned Vehicles turned T&A Bars into Gentlemen's Clubs. What a farce that is. LOL |

Is that place across the street open at that time of the morning? I think I used their restroom once, remember seeing some pool tables, don't recall a low ceiling though. All I recall is a bar and bar stools for someplace to sit and eat. I think a couple of years ago, if it's the place I'm thinking of, they had chili available - but that didn't sound good at 7:30 in the morning. I'll have to check it out if I make it this time, I'll need something since I've given up coffee for a bit. Hey, do you know of any decent places in town to get some riding pants for a fair price? I think I'm going to get some, but may wait for 20 pounds or so to get them. |

Thanks a lot Mike...now I am questioning my recollection of the ceiling height. LOL However, I ate at a breakfast counter much like a really rural George Webb's. You have to be from Milwaukee to understand that one. LOL With the exception of jackets and chaps, I get my riding gear online at Jammin' Leather and have it tailored locally at Seams So Perfect. For the jacket and chaps stuff, I like Real Leather on Loomis Road. You will be hard pressed to beat their quality and prices locally. The local selections for sport riding (in-the-boot) leather pants is quite limited and non-existent for leather jeans unless you want Harley's version that is way over priced and made from tissue paper. This year I am looking for sport pants and boots and I don't know where to begin to look around here. Heck, I would be better off just hopping a flight to LA and hitting Chaparrel. You can try on anything in their catalog and more there. Would be nice if someone from the local area would chime in and advise of other places to shop in the Milwaukee and Chicago area. I do like to try before I buy as it saves on both tailoring and keeping UPS way too busy with exchanges. |

The Riverside Inn in Saukville (actually made the newspaper this week) and Harry's in Port have counter seating available. A decent way to eat. Especially when you're hungry and don't want to wait for a table to clear. Bomber told me about a shop west of him for leather gear, but mentioned it may have gotten trendy in a funny way a little bit. I'll probably readdress the riding pants issue once my funds match my needs. There is the SportlandII down someplace near the airport that's supposed to have stuff, but I've never been there so I don't know for certain. Oh well, time to crash the computer and give the IT people something to do this morning. |

Let me know in the next 90 minutes if you want to meet up. Friday is fish fry there, it was okay. Their breakfast porkchops are real good though, but they don't always have them. Weekend breakfasts are often standing room only. Oh, and they're cash or checks only, no credit card/debit cards taken. Same with Harry's, cash or check only. Keeps their costs down. OH yeah, the topic, guess I meandered again. Oops. |
