Hey Rigga, Hows it going...
In defense for Thansesxbr9s, I`m not saying that his mods to the bike does give him any increase in power, However, IF one does certain mods to his or hers bike and notices an improvement in power ... a 3,4, 5 horsepower increase in power one can differently feel that in the so called "Seat of the pants feeling " whether its down low, midrange probally more so than up on the top end... all other things being equal just my 3 cents...

Hogs, ... i think a slight increase like that might be too small an increment to be certain of just by riding, sure a difference in perforance can be felt, but is it really an increase? what if the mods carried out have actually lost power, but then the engine rapidly climbes back up to stock power...this rapid increase can be felt, but overall its not an increase in power....i think this was pointed out very recently, and it is true,a mapped out dyno run is surley the only way to see exactly what the engine is performing at through out its rev range..im all for guys carrying out mods to their bikes, thats all part of the enjoyment of owning a bike,i myself have tried many things, but have used a dyno as a tool to confirm/deny if these mods are worthwhile or not,its a learning curve for us all as these bikes are relatively new, unfortunatly as it has been pointed out the access to a dyno can be costly,if one is local at all,but those that have used one have set down the facts to help others that would otherwise head up a blind alley that could be costly

Rigga,
As I said all things be equal, and Not letting the Noise Fool one thinking that their bike now is faster, lets say on a xb with something as simple as the 12 air box installed on a 9. whats that give for an increase in power 1 , 2, 2.5 horsepower increase and we all are aware of the seat of the pants feeling that gave, so I guess my point is if one was to do a mod and got the same type of feeling with a 3, 4 5 horsepower increase one wd. feel that more so...Keeping the so called noise feeling out of the question as I know alot have done exhaust mods thinking now that it makes NOISE it has to have more power, but a 3-5 horsepower increase I know I wd. feel that difference in power on a buell as light as they are, a 10 hp. increase in power in a car one can feel in the butt, and thats in a whole lot more metal...

Hogs, I dunno.... 5 HP maybe, but 1 or 2, I don't think so. Plus it depends where it is in the powerband. At top end I'm hanging on for dear life & not thinking about HP! Down low it might be more noticeable.

Hell, lol, sometimes when I detail my car it feels faster....

Hogs..... as ive said, the difference can possibly be felt, its just adding numbers to it as a reference that i feel can be misleading at times, plus its all subjective as your butt dyno may be more tuned in than mine say.... the 12 airbox lid is a good example, but there have been dyno runs to back that mod up,dont forget many mods together that should add by themselves might not when run alongside each other, its all about compatability,we are looking for small increases at a time, the days when simply adding a pipe releases 15 hp are long gone, bike manufacturers are more on top of development these days,so are the aftermarket guys developing parts for the bikes,im sure kevin has spent more hours on a dyno developing the drummer than he cares to remember, but their products are released with hard facts to back them up,these facts are then available to potential purchasers to decide if part xyz is what they want to add to their bike or not, guesswork has hopefully been removed

Rigga...
Okay here we go... lets say we got a xb9 and we throw a Drummer on it, a D&D or another pipe that gives , Hmmm what a 3-6 hp., or a few lbs. of torque increase in power ( down low or midrange ) does the butt not feel that??

Dyno ----Wino lots have to do on the operator (maybe too much wine in his system today :-) ) , time of day, temp, outside, temp. on motor, humidity, gas, elevation man one can go on and on with regards to conditions that can and Do effect dyno runs.. when we are just talking the gains like 3-6 hp., and a few lbs.,of torque for that matter, Excuse my spelling.. Of all the pipes I have tried to date on my xb12r ( mods I have done) I find the race can pulls the hardest,Like a Bloody Freight locomotive, on the top end .. But how does one define Locomotive just a figure of speech but If one was to Wino it Excuse me Dyno it then I bet We. wd. not be far off In my seat of the pants feeling the Race can Kicks top end on, but I use a d&d for my sound (that I like) and better midrange than the race can etc.All done by my seat of the pants feeling :-)) LoL And I don`t like wine..

Hogs...... i think we are getting in a rut here, and going no where fast, ive already stated you can feel changes in a bikes performance ,its being able to analyze and quantify those changes that a butt dyno will never be able to do to a degree....agreed there are many variables on a dyno that can influence the results,i use the same one and the same operator to try and reduce these, but yes they are still there... end of the day we have choices through out life to make,no two of us are the same, which makes life interesting, line several buells in a line and i bet each one would be different in some way,its all good

Yeah, They're homemade and not built by machine....

Kevin, that makes you an artisan. Machines can't put passion into what they build.

Wambo, Thanks for that thought. Drummers are made by Buell owners for for Buell owners.
