Rented a 12R today to see if I could shake off a bad demo experience I had a couple of months ago. I was only able to clock a hundred miles in the N Carolina foothills but I'm here to tell ya I can understand why you guys go so freekin nuts over your bikes. The bike was phenomenal! I sucked but the bike rocks! In the tight up/down hill 2nd/3rd twisties and high speed sweepers I don't think I've ever felt so comfortable with a bike. Too comfortable some times. Except when it came to my butt. Damn that seat sucks. I tend to crowd the tank and my arse was asleep inside 30 minutes followed 15 minutes later by my throttle hand. Besides this it was a great experience. I was really surprised at how comfortable I was also (besides the sleeping arse). I'm 5-11ish, 165lb and never felt cramped. It forms a tight package but not at all cramped. Will I buy one??? To do so I'd have to keep my bagger (Z Rex w/Beatle Bags) and I really don't have the time/cash to keep up with 2. So I will probably go with the Duc ST3 but there will be a R in my stable some day. |

I wasn't prepared for the bike or it for me. After spending so much time sitting on the bike in the showroom I thought I knew what to expect. Not so. The riding position once moving just felt weird and turn in was waaay heavy. I didn't check to see if the bike was set up right so that may have had something to do with it. Also I only got 3 miles, barely enough time to get seated. In any case I was better prepared for the rental(spent some time lurking about here) and made sure it was set up correctly. |

Ah, that would do it. First time I rode one it was a bit heavy. Now, I got it set up. It's sooooooo easy to use. (Message edited by cataract2 on March 26, 2005) |
