as far as costomizing i learned my lesson with my hot rod.
i love the way my XB is, i would not change a thing on it so no need to customize it.
I'll just save the money i would ahve spend in customizing for a new XB in the future.
besides sales is what makes BUELL grow.
and if they get to be big enough company then they might be able to afford to have their racing team. |

Bill a.k.a. buell2001b: In internet terms, that's often called Trolling. In other words, throwing something out there to get someone to react - preferably getting them riled up - for your own entertainment, rather than engaging in an intelligent interaction; exchange of information and opinions etc.
You may not recall, but the the Badweb rules of conduct, which you agreed to when you signed up, specifically explains that that is not acceptable behavior. Should you have forgotten, you have now been reminded.

That bike made a big impression on me when I first saw it years ago. I hope the makeover doesn't change too much of it's character. |

I hope he (Rocket) does not change it too much?
I can't agree on how it is like other bikes, if so then why no matter where I park it people always seem to flock around it. |

Woe there! Nothing drastic is taking shape. I'm not sure to include the rear hugger and scoop next time out. The jury's still out on that one in an effort to keep minimal.
No it's just the simple stuff like junking those plastic chrome rear flashers for black Joker Machine ones and there's a bunch of other stuff to mix and mess with but essentially the look will remain the same.
Reality also strikes. This past couple of years has meant two house moves, the last of which i'm in the middle of right now. The bloody place was a right mess so I've had to strip bare the full house from top to bottom in the past month. Thank someone it's only a small 'two up two down' cottage dating from around 1850! Anything more and the decorators bill would see me in bankruptcy proceedings. Hey and as if that's not enough for a poor boy I finally got my thyroid removed last week after it's spent a year eating into my flesh as I think Henrik once said  .
The 916 needs tyres. Needs belts and a service too. Then there's the road tax, insurance etc etc. My poor old TVR still needs finishing off as well. The motor has sat on the bench for months now just needing one head fitting to complete and the Swaymar manifold that takes a 390 Holley needs the attention of a Dremell. Other than that the motor can go back in and be running in a matter of hours but you know what, priority Buell.
Where do all the hours in a day go?
Lastly. I trust you all saw those amazing pic's Dyna took during Daytona. When I saw the pic with all the Ness choppers lined up it reminded me of how suddenly individual doesn't really mean individual sometimes. My chopper building \ riding days are long over but one production custom bike that I can't get my thoughts too far away from.......... man if I had $50K lying around there'd be a Hellcat not 10 feet from where I'm sat.
Anyone notice the Brutale S Dyna shot. That's the 'America' model. The latest version of which is purely cosmetic change. I hear MV have finally decided on doing the bigger capacity version after much debating since the Proton buy in. They are not detuning the 1000cc F4 motor though for more suitability. MV are instead opting for a 916cc displacement with dedicated tuning to suit the needs better of the naked Brutale. My sources tell me it is an awesome motorcycle - so if you thought the 750 was good. Oh hang about - Daddy Gess and me are the only ones..... trust me, go test ride. I hear the new Triumph Triple is blisteringly quick too!
Thanks for the encouragement. It is nice to be back - which is due to a rather amazing person having the big heart and courage to make it happen - that is Blake.

Alas, My S1W is not looking so beautiful for the time being. At last years Sears Point AMA race, it developed at 37,000 miles what I thought was a pushrod tube leak. Fixed that, but it was really a base gasket leak back behind the tubes. And of course, as long as I need to fix that, I might as well put heads and cylinders and a bunch of other stuff on it (impeccable logic, don't you think?  ) At 37K, the cylinders were in great shape, could still see some light remnants of the original hone marks, and no streaks of significance.
I've been riding the S3, the shop XB and Joanne's SV, and I'm pretty busy with A.S.B projects these days, so this hasn't been a priority to get it running. But all this talk about S1s has me druelling to get back on my favorite Buell. I have to make getting this put back together a priority. She'll be a beauty again soon....

I think it is a Handy, but I'm not sure of the model. It came with the shop when I bought A.S.B. Never had worked on one before, and it is fabulous to be able to not bend over to work on some things and lay on the ground to work on exhaust/suspension stuff. I'm going to weld a couple rectangular sockets to the edge of it about a third of the way from the front and back, and weld up a frame that goes up and over the bike and back down the other side that fits in those socket so I can suspend the bike for suspension work and such. But I gotta get the S1 finished and off the lift first. I may be the worlds SLOWEST mechanic.

Exactly what I'm thinking. I finally (well in 4 - 6 months) will have room for a table lift, and have a serious itch to buy one. I saw a few at the MC Show, but they seemed kinda flimsy, which likely explains their lower price. The newer Handy lift with the drop out plate in the rear looks like the way to go - except it can't go up as high as the older (much more expensive) model).
Ahhh - tools. Can't live without them - gotta buy more of them ...

I just made room in the garage too, ditched the Convertible Saab a month ago, picked up a Subaru Impreza Wagon (amazing little car in the snow).
I have to now find a lift for my bikes. |

As far as a lift you may want to consider making one, i think shipping would kill you to the island, i thought i saw plans for sale in the back of a magazine, but to be honest not sure which one, will look this evening

Well practicality dictated the ditching of the Saab, and besides she told me I can have another bike in the next year to complement the others.
My boys got new dirt bikes this winter so we are planning on doing a lot of off road riding on weekends to.
A week or so ago we had a major snow storm and I couldn't believe how well the Subaru dug in and kept going. Like the energizer bunny. I will definately get another - next time maybe the Legacy GT or a WRX Wagon. Something with a bit more HP.
As for Ice Bregs and Moose, noooooo problem, I'll take that any day over some of the problems that plague major cities. You have been here!!!!
Always welcome back again too. Should bring your wife with you the next time.
If you can find those plans it certainly would be appreciated. |

Well it might not be any use to our American cousins but this has to be an absolute British bargain.
Clarke Strongarm M\C Lift
I'm using a borrowed one which cost my friend £750 new two years ago. The price drop to £352 is incredible and it is a right good piece of kit.
Highly recommended.
