Erik2,

If you have the original style S2 indicator light assembly it will not fit as well (or maybe even won't fit at all) as with the later more rounded style of indicator light assembly. Starting with the '96 S1 Lightning, Buell used the more rounded style of indicator light assembly. This more rounded style is what this cover was designed for. My parts book that covers the '95 S2 and '96 S2 and S2-T shows only one part number for the indicator light assembly, so apparently Buell did not change the indicator light assembly for the '96 S2 and S2-T. If, however your S2 has been updated (like I did with mine) with the later style indicator light assembly, then it will fit like the proverbial glove.

Hope this helps,

Just as an aid to show what the later-style, more-rounded indicator light assembly looks like (and because another milestone has been reached on my S2) I took this pic after I got home from work tonight. You'll have to excuse the dirtyness as it rained most of the day. It should also be noted that installing the later-style indicator light assembly is not a direct remove and replace operation as the later-style assembly is made for a thicker panel, so I had to make a spacer for the back of my dash.
Only 5 more to go...

Guys,

It's all coming back to me now. Looking at the diagrams and images helped me recall the indicator setup on my Cyclone, which was of course the later rounded style. Got intimate with that assembly when I had a rash of bulb failures shortly after I got it. My S2 definitely has the original, sharp edged assembly. I guess the bezel is out.

Thanks for the help.

Congrats on 95K! Very cool.

Are any of you S2 owners using the updated Y-mount front exhaust hanger on your bikes? I'm debating if I need or want one for the S2. Got a used one for the M2 awhile back that I haven't installed yet, and have been thinking of mod'ing the Wileyco for the M2 onto the S2. Just playing with ideas and wondering about the Y-bracket mount.

Thanks.

I have one but I too have yet to install it. My exhaust has been perfect on the S2 without it.

I put one on my S2. My race header still cracked. I'll be fitting up a "double Aaron" support bracket set for this season.

YOWZAH, that's a fine looking steed.
Good on you, Nitesbes.

Fired up the S2 in the garage today just to hear it run for the first time since the fall. Made a heck of a cloud as it burned the fogging oil from it's lungs. But it sure sounded sweet.

Roll on SPRING! : )

Court,

I beg to differ. Those are, indeed, stock S2-T decals. Proof at 11:00 (or whenever I get home tonight to snap a picture of a page in the ol' S2/S2-T parts manual).

Oh boy.....I can see when I am about to eat crow!

I'll look too.

At this point, I'll bet your right and I'll start getting myself ready to digest the crow.

On the other hand, if you are wrong, I will, of course, go into another "hippie driving a herse" rant.

You ready?

Court,
If you haven't guess I am supporting Brankin on this one as I have seen those decals on many of the grey 96 S2Ts. My Parkway blue is different however.

About as far south as you can go without getting wet. Got an indirect relative to go visit just north of Brownsville. Might have an empty pickup southbound, unless gas hits $3.50 in which case we'll be on bicycles. ; )

When I called the seller I flew over thinking people were lined up to get it.He said it's been in the paper all week I was the only call.I walked around the bike not finding any rash.Asked if i can start it.Fired up real nice. I made my offer,he said Ok.That's all of 3 minutes in his garage. Not one time did I look at the other bikes he had.I just went to the bank asap.I think he thought I was crazy.

Court,

I was born ready, but unfortunately my reference materials seem to have let me down.

My S2/S2-T parts book does not show the S2-T tail section decal (nor does it show the S2-T only straight Buell lettering for the front fairing decal). I know I've seen the parts book style illustration of that decal somewhere. I KNOW that the decal is the factory S2-T tail section decal, but I just don't have anything (but my memory) to prove it. Looking at my pics from last years Homecoming showing Buellish's and Norbert's Parkway Blue S2-T's shows they both have the version of the decal for the Parkway Blue S2-T's (white Buell and gray S2-T underneath in the exact form of the image in Nitsebes post), but neither image shows it clear enough to post as proof. The Roadworks binder doesn't show anything so don't bother looking there, either.

Looking at the tail section and front fairing part numbers in the S2/S2-T parts book shows only one part number for each for the Parkway Blue parts. There should be two separate numbers as the S2 front fairing had the normal slanted Buell lettering and the S2-T part had the straight up Buell lettering. The tail sections were different with the S2 getting the standard S2 Thunderbolt decal and the S2-T getting what Nitsebes shows but in the white and gray. I'm beginning to think I have an early parts book, or that things really were that inaccurate back then.

I don't have any problem with being wrong, I just know that is the factory S2-T decal.

BTW - love the idea of a 'hippie driving a hearse' rant.

I am trying like heck to be wrong but I can't find that decal ANYWHERE. I am searching the pre-intro dealer info studio shots, marketing materials, product brochures and anything I can find.

E-mail me a copy of that picture and I can find out pronto.

By the way, the 1990 Buell "tool kit" I recently said was not factory issue.....well it was, I was wrong. Damn few of them, but they were with the RS's.
