Hi all, Great site we have here, lots of good ideas and the big reason I have my X1 sitting in the garage right now . There are a few things(cosmetically, anyways) on my to-do list that I want to take care of in the immediate future: -Take off the billboard, that Buell calls a license plate mount and get a undertail pan to replace the rear fender. -Take off the "motorcycle cancer", as my dad has taken to calling the scoop and the airbox, and replace it with tank accents to trim off the gas tank cover. -Air intake to replace the airbox. I am thinking the best looking alternative is a Force Intake with a K&N filter. How does the Kuryakyn Hypercharger stack up? Any ideas/suggestions/opinions from you good people that have or have had an X1?? |

Stay as far away from the hyper charger as possible!!!!!!!!! That's the only advice I will give you, you need to make the bike your own |

Check out the X1 Files. It's the Bible for those of us that love and nurture them. http://www.saintjohn.nbcc.nb.ca/Marriott/x1/ |

Halffast...Thanks for the website. That was one of the best I have ever seen and got a lot of ideas from it. |

I agree with the statement about the Hypercharger. Nothing yells "bling blang" more than one of those. The total antithesis to what Buells are all about. |

DJ, It's not the "bling" factor of the Hyper charger cause you can get them in black. It is the HP factor. I have seen steady streams of Dyno sheets staiting loss of HP. <<And for all of you who say it is ram air and that won't show in a Dyno take a look at the rear bottom of any hyper charger, there is a big slit back there for water drainage and air for idleing.>> |

Jeremy, I also have an '02 X1. I have a Forcewinder air breather, American Sport Bike CF tank inserts and fender eliminator. Check them out:

Ftd, I love the way that bike looks. I did pull off the scoop on the left side to see if I wanted to save myself the money of buying the tank accents. it looks too good with the accents to not get them. I am going to just have to buck up and get them and the Forcewinder, too cool! The very first thing to go is that rear fender/license plate holder and the tire hugging rubber thing they call a mud guard. I was thinking I would get the aluminum piece that Banke sells instead of the CF one you have. I like the CF look when taken in tasteful doses. You have done it right. Oh, BTW, what did you do with the horn that the scoop was hiding? I was thinking of finding a spot up under the gas tank if I can find a spot or behind the fly screen in front of the instruments. |

What have you guys been doing about breather issues like puking? I really don't want to have oil being sprayed on the rear tire while whistlin' on down the road. I do like the Jaz catch can that the X1 Files outlines, it would definitely look cool on the frame. |

I use the Jazz Can hidden behind the air scoop as shown in the X1 Files. If you like something that big exposed on the frame, fine. However, Al at American Sport Bikes sells a smaller version in a shiny finish that will blend in a lot better on a scoopless bike. |

Jeremy, If you look close you'll see a billet catch can on my bike where the horn used to be. I moved the horn toward the front of the bike into the next frame section. Frank

"It's not the "bling" factor of the Hyper charger cause you can get them in black." Oh, excuse me. I didn't realize it had to be chrome to be considered "bling". |

FTD - I see you are running the older style WileyCo exhaust. If you have any problems with the bracket snaping off the elbow, send pics to their service department. Mine snapped and I had a complete new exhaust sent to me for the cost of shipping. They were great to work with! |

Kaz, Thanks for the heads up. Three years and over 12K miles of trouble free WileyCo ( so far). I have heard good things about their customer service. Frank |
