Well I have a 04 xb9s. the front brakes have been squeling, i cleaned rotor with brake cleaner, and noticed small round spots that look hot spots or wear spots. I thought the rotor might be warped but the spot are about 1-1/2 inches apart all the way around the rotor in a very uniform patern. Is this a problem or is it normal wear on a Buell? any sugestions would be great.  | ||

Hey Dilysi.. I have the same problem.. I might try some new pads, but one thing I have done with my braking is use two fingers instead of a handful. My bike likes that a lot better. | ||

I had that same problem with my 04XB12R - and when I was coming to a stop I would feel a mild pulsing (right before I actually stopped). This started happening before I hit 1500 miles Seems to be uneven wear on the rotors (I had the same evenly spaced spots). The dealer replaced mine under warranty and haven't had a problem in the 3000 miles since. Anybody else? Maybe it was a bad "batch" of rotors? | ||

There was a link posted to an article recently (can't find it), where it was claimed that most of the "warped rotor" stories were really a question of uneven deposit of brake pad material onto the rotor. It was claimed to be because of not bedding in the pads as per manufacturer specs. Can't vouch for the accuracy of this, and feel a bit silly for not being able to find the article as well  , but the take-home message could be that a careful cleaning of the rotor, sanded or new pads and careful bedding may relieve the symptoms. What Henrik said. The spots that you are seeing are very likely not "wear spots" or "hard spots" as the very routinely get called. They are very likely uneven deposits on the disc, and they will cause a pulsing front end, especially during the final moments before coming to an absolute stop. Improper bedding can definitely cause it. Sintered pads seem to be a little more prone to doing it. If you can feel the pulsing in your lever, you almost certainly have a warped rotor. If the pulsing is in the stopping, which usually means that you get pulsed front end dive, but no pulsing in the lever, suspect deposition layer. You MIGHT have a warped rotor, but that's pretty easy to check for if you can get the front end off the ground. A brake hone can be used to bring back such a rotor. We have one from Ferodo, it was mentioned that others exist in the auto parts world. See here Al | ||
