Well, got the 12S back after new tyres and a Jardine exhaust, did 150 miles to scrub the tyres up and settle the bike after a TPS reset. It now sounds better and the new Bridgestones feel pretty good. Go to wash all the road salt off and lookie here whats this shiny ally stuff showing through my nice gold rims! Went back to the Buell dealer that did the work he checked it out and said it may be a faulty coating on the wheel and could I return Monday when the workshop Boss was back to see if its a warranty claim. Anybody else have the same problem?

Yeah - mine look like the powdercoating or clearcoat is "crazed" - small "cracks" throughout the surface. I had mine looked at during the 1000 mile service and noted on my records. A Buell factory rep (HD?) said there was no problem, but I had it noted nonetheless for future reference.

Rpm This is small bits flaked off back to the base ally no sign of crazing anywhere on either wheel. Had some wheels powder coated on a FJ12 Yam a while back plenty tyre changes and no problems, 1st set of new boots on the XB and a wheel that will grow its own fur coat pretty soon!

That sux. Mine aren't damaged, but just look different than other translucent amber wheels I've seen. If it flakes or peels when I have new rubber installed, at least I brought it to their attention.
