Performance Mods!: | Race kit, Sooper dooper 8" K&N round air cleaner (Modified and installed by yours truly). It may be noisy, but it beats the crap out of any gutted out air box. Sorry, no dyno runs, but the seat of my pants can surely tell...:oP Jims roller rockers, 180 Michelin rear tire (the Michelin men on the edge of the tire are now part of the pavement on Sandia Crest road). |
Problems/Miles (Please be specific): | No major problems so far. Had an intake leak when the bike was only a few months old. It would barely run at all. Since then nothing to speak of besides the typical oil puking. Fixed that with the cure. My X1 has 10,000 miles as of June 02. Uh, oh yeah, those pesky front exhaust clamps and brackets keep breaking |
Other Mods/Misc/Customization.: | Got rid of a lot of unnecessary plastic. Added Crossroads clip on bars, and those little CRG bar-ends. Um...lets see...oh yeah got the better seat (the one with the pegasus), and a tank bra, since my Vanson Buell jacket zipper scratched up my tank cover. That seat is way better than that crappy stock unit. Jagg oil cooler. |
Favorite Rides (Roads and Routes): | Sandia Crest road, Jemez (NM St.Rd 4), Hwy 64 from Dulce to Blanco. |
Why I do/don't ride a Buell: | I love the x-1 and the s-1's. The handling and the torque. Let's face it, horsepower looks good on paper, but torque works well on the road. Oh, did I mention the TORQUE? |
How can Buell improve their motorcycles?: | Water cooling and overhead cams. |
Life History/Philosophy: | I was an automotive technician for 12 years. ASE certified master automobile technician, blah blah blah...when I finally got fed up with working on other people's piles of crap. Breaking my back bending over sports car hoods and trashing the skin on my hands got to be pretty old. I decided it was time to change careers. I am an electrician now and am much happier (and cleaner). zzzaaapp! Ow, that hurt. I can fix just about anything on a vehicle, but now I only work on my toys. Oh, and my wife's 2000 M2 keeps me plenty busy. It's near completion. I'll post photos of both our bikes when hers is done. Oh yeah, I'm in the process of making a video...it's gonna be really cool...I'll let it fly when it's complete. |
Top speed on 2 wheels (mph): | Uh, ah, er, Does the H on the MPH mean anything to ya? |
Preferred engine oil (brand/grade): | HD 20w50 |
