| Problems/Miles (Please be specific): | On 4 Jul 05 purchased XB9S w/ 2700 miles, off EBay, was told it was garaged and always taken care of, etc., etc. Two months later and @ 5100 miles - Noticed HUGE sound from engine, not normal, was told just replace oil and it would go away. ALAS, when I replaced oil, I had less than ONE quart of oil in entire engine, including the few precious ounces in the filter... Lesson learned: NEVER trust the previous owner! Trust, BUT verify! My own fault... 5200 - Rear tire (D207R)was showing fibers, replaced with newer D208R Tire UPDATE: Running Pirelli Scorpions Synchs (awesome tires!) ; After just a year ODO is showing over 16500 miles... No issues... UPDATE: After 3 years, 25K miles, had no mechanical issues, NONE! =) |
| Other Mods/Misc/Customization.: | XB9S: Corbin Seat; Joe Rocket Saddle Bags; Buell Tank Bag; Bag for EZPass; ClearLens Brake Lights; Sliders from "skully" http://darkhorsemoto.com Great accessory!; Right side air scoop, '07 XB12 air box, Ventura Luggage System, Integrated LED Brake/Turn Signal light (really bright!), CRG hand Controls and Lane Splitter Bar End Mirrors, all from American Sport Bike; swapped out the old belt for the new lifetime belt along with the "new" rear, thanks Karl (for helping me wrench it and customizing the old covers!) and American Sport Bike (for the parts and expert know-how!); MotoLights w/ amber lenses (waiting to hear about correct bolts, they came with caliper brake bolts, a bit tricky since the XBs only have ONE... Ended up using the Slider option = 6.75in. diameter, in case you needed to know); recently added Gerbing Gear to my own riding kit, love the heat!; Mueller Clutch thingy; and other stuff that I can't remember for now... XB12XT: Same MotoLights as used on XB9S except in black, Headlight Mod (tired of being told that I had 'a headlight out?!?'); CeeBailey 14" Windshield (awesome!); Corbin Seat; Aux. LEDs which I mounted underneath the top case, used four, each was a turn/brake/running combination LED; stick on thermometer (Ice Warning for colder rides); Liners for all cases plus Triple Tail Bag; Heat Blankets from Odie; Wrapped Pipes; Right Side Air Scoop from American Sport Bike |
| Favorite Rides (Roads and Routes): | VA Rt. 211 (NoVA's version of a Mini-Dragon!) and Rt. 9 past Charles Town, WV into Cumberland, MD via Rt. 51... UPDATE: WV Route 32, 33, 42 and SR 50 (starting North from Winchester, VA and going into the WV mountains) are my latest faves. |
| Why I do/don't ride a Buell: | Waited two years to get my own Buell. Was worth the wait! Why do I ride?: Just like the bike, I'm "Different In Every Way!" |
| How can Buell improve their motorcycles?: | Right side air scoop, seems like THE obvious mod for all models! Can't be that expensive to tool it... I'm seeing a trend of less and less "real" Buell dealerships. I envision going down to a handful of "super Buell" dealers (i.e. ALL of the Buell models, all of the accessory and gear stuff, etc.) located in strategic locations throughout the US. Explain this one to me, one of the top "import" brands in Europe is Buell! =) |
