Performance Mods!: | K&N air filter with hand made bracket, removed snorkel and install velosity ring, relocate sensor.Penske shock, Jagg oil cooler and H-D t-stadt, Hotheads by Latus Motors in Spokane WA. Millenium Technologies jugs with H-D pistons,PowerCommander, (stayed with stock cams)custom mapped. Turned 90 hp / 82# torque and I still get 55 + mpg at legal speeds. Borla header and muffler (sounds wonderfull - great feel). |
Problems/Miles (Please be specific): | At 7500 miles - oil loss through breather system. Buell offers no fix but I'm still trying. High idle at high temps. Found leaking valve guide seal on front exaust port with changing exhaust system. Waiting to see what dealer will do. July 02 - All problems fixed and then some between Buell and the Dealer - happy now. Had warped jugs. Just arrived home from Sturgis, ran mostly legal speeds with heavy load and several days of very high temps. Oil use was about 1/2 quart in over 2000 miles (using Harly bilge while breaking in the new parts). Will go to Amsoil after next oil change and expect oil loss to be reduced even further. |

Why I do/don't ride a Buell: | Fun, different, fun. I feel like part of this machine. At only 5'6" it fits me so well. On my H-D I feel like I'm sitting on - - - well, a great big HOG! |
How can Buell improve their motorcycles?: | Adjustable handle bars for the S-3T - something on the order of a Heli-bar, Optional luggage rack for S-3T. Fuel guage. Summer 02: Replace the discontinued S-3T with another more reliable sport touring bike. If H-D does a V-R based sport Touring attempt it will most likely be too big and too heavy and not handle nearly as well as the S-3T. |
