Personal Quote: | Life is like a shit sandwich. The more bread you want the more shit you have to swallow. |
Bike Model (Ex - M2, XB12Rr, S1W, P3): | Modified X1 Millennium |
Model Year (Please enter full 4-digit year): | 2000 |
Color: | Blue and Silver |
V.I.N. (To aid in problem resolution. Will not be displayed or shared otherwise.) : | (Hidden) |
Servicing Dealership:
Performance Mods!: | Buell Race ECU. Stainless oval race can. Force Motor Products Racewinder with K&N race air filter ( I had to make a new carbon outer shell for it with nicer contours a few years ago following a low speed off. ) |
Problems/Miles (Please be specific): | Two failed engine temp sensors ( the most recent one being a wearing through of it's bullet connector outer insulation resulting in grounding to earth of the inner metal connector ). Leaking rocker box covers ( oil ) at about 8000 miles resulting in my fitting redesigned gaskets with thin double tramline rubber seals. sheering problems with the rubber isolators holding the front and rear of the aftermarket exhaust can. Now cured with very neat home made front bracket using a stainless bolt and cut down rubber rollers from the paper feed drive of an old HP printer. Split rubber gas line from fuel pump to injectors 2008. |
Other Mods/Misc/Customization.: | DDFI S3 Thunderbolt fuel tank. Altered and recovered seat to fit the profile of S3 fuel tank. Carbon fibre rear hugger and belt guard and carbon fibre covered front drive cover. Polished rear brake lever, gear change lever, both side cases, rear wheel pulley and swing arm. Home made ( cut and shut with braze from a sacrificial pair of aftermarket bars with bends of the right sort ) "ace" handlebars to put grips about 2" further forward and lower than original for long, high speed blasts. Other body panels painted in Blue Streak to match the S3 fuel tank - paint unavailable from HD / Buell but supplier was PPG and they kindly supplied me with the codes to give to a automotive paint mixing firm to make me up a batch. |
Favorite Rides (Roads and Routes): | 560 miles in one day all the way across France and into northern Spain via the central Pyrenees 2012. Across the Massif Central in Central France and then down through Italy to just north of Rome prior to 18 hour / 650 blast return trip across France from Lyon to central England including the cross Channel ferry crossing. 2008. |
Why I do/don't ride a Buell: | I grew up on 500cc DBD34 BSA Gold Stars ( including having made one to better than showroom condition out of battered, broken and rusty parts ) and the X1 does everything that the Goldie does and in the same way but with more than twice as better power, handling, brakes etc. |
How can Buell improve their motorcycles?: | That would be difficult seeing as they are now no longer making bikes. |
Life History/Philosophy:
Top speed on 2 wheels (mph): | 135mph - but not on the X1 |
Preferred engine oil (brand/grade):
