Servicing Dealership: | Me, Myself, and I...nice guys |
Performance Mods!: | Race ECM, XB12 Air Filter Cover (only top portion with foam to hold it down), K&N Air Filter, DRUMMER with Fatlet, Pro Series Spark Plugs. |
Problems/Miles (Please be specific): | Every 2500 miles...replace engine/primary oil, oil filter, adjust clutch, adjust primary chain, lube clutch cable, and general bolt tightening. 2500 miles: Idle all over the place (TPS reset resolved this). 6000 miles: One broken solder on High Beam Switch at wire tip causing it to not work. Opened switch housing and resoldered...5 minutes max. 8000 miles: Front spark plug wire rubbed through...wrapped with Fiberglass booties used on hot rods along with new wires. Also changed plugs. Later replaced with updated plug wires...updated wires still good at 30,000 miles. 10,250 miles: Speedo sensor went out...covered under warranty. Got VDSTS software and did TPS reset at home...whoohoo! 16,000 miles: TPS reset and changed plugs. 18,000 miles: Replaced original '03 belt with '06 belt kit from American Sport Bike. 24,000 miles: TPS reset and replaced plugs. 20,000 miles to present: Speedo will intermittently stop working...often "recovers" when stopped to 0 MPH and then take off again...might take a few times of doing this but this usually does the trick. When it does not (about 3X now), I clean off the sensor and that does it. 36,100 miles: Wrecked the bike but was able to rebuild back to primo condition myself and switch to black plastics. The bike still runs great and was not affected by the crash mechanically. 50,000 miles so far... |
Other Mods/Misc/Customization.: | Buell Tail Bag, Rivet Eliminator Kit for ignition cover/chin spoiler, CRG Shorty brake/clutch levers, HELIBAR Top Triple Clamp Ventura Rack System, tribute to grandma Dora. |
Favorite Rides (Roads and Routes): | Pacific Coast Highway 1 (especially between Morro Bay and Monterey...whoohoo!), US166, US58, US229, US41, US198, US128, US29, US35, US9, US84 |
Why I do/don't ride a Buell: | Love the Harlesque Torque when on the bike. Love the unique look and design of it when I am not on the bike...when parked. I usually have people coming up...especially if the left side is more visible. |
How can Buell improve their motorcycles?: | Better shifting, more fuel capacity (200 mile range would be nice) |
Life History/Philosophy: | Letting others be who they want to is the best way to be their friend. Understand that everyone has the same passion and opinions about how they do things just like you...I find it interesting that people can be so different but this one area is quite common. |
Top speed on 2 wheels (mph): | 145 (on a track) |
Preferred engine oil (brand/grade): | motul/Mobil Syn |
