Servicing Dealership: |
Your kidding, right? I have yet to see one capable of servicing Buells.
|

|
Problems/Miles (Please be specific): |
Bought used at 1800mi recalls done. Force streetfighter pipe cracked around front mount on two different pipes, was warrantied two times with an improved ver., three sets of rear isolators broken, two front isolators broken, battery died, front and rear rocker box leaked repaired two times by dealer under warr. I finally replaced them and the base gaskets with James metal gaskets , front lower exhaust stud broke at head twice, front upper exhaust stud broke at head three times, upper and lower rear exhaust stud broke at head one time each, rear tail&turn light bracket cracked twice, positive cable rubbed through insulation because of contact with a smaller wire on a relay above the battery, caught this before it got too exciting!, diffuser in front headlight fell off and rattled inside headlight twice...has since been removed, rear turn signals broke off,I'm on the third battery I now use the same type of battery Rocketman uses because I could not make myself use the retrofit kit as it looks like the voltage regulators new location would roast my leg, Replaced steering head bearings because when I went to repack them the were slightly pitted. The latest style of isolators have not broken they are considerably larger than the old ones, the replacement shock started leaking and has since been replaced with the new style shock with the huge rear eye, crank seal on the primary side started leaking motor oil into the primary and puking out of the primary vent hose onto EVERYTHING under and behind the seat including the tire. The seal has been replaced with the new style. This thing needs new exhaust gaskets at the head about every 2k miles and the header nuts checked about every 500 miles or 20 heat cycles. Many dealer service departments in Texas SUCK. Bottom line is these bikes are nothing like your uncles Harley and cannot be worked on like they are a Harley. The thick headed S.O.B.'s at the dealer can't figure that out. If you are not capable of making the repairs that WILL be neccesary on a Buell, then don't get one because you will hate it. I love mine. Broke another exhaust stud, in the rear head this time, 21,000miles now. Spring plate in clutch came apart, installed new set of friction discs, added one extra friction and two extra steel discs and left out spring plate. This setup works perfect. Force pipe cracked again, about 9in of weld bead to fix this time. 24,000mi.now

Other Mods/Misc/Customization.: |
Force seat, homemade luggage rack similar to ventura rack, removed rear hugger, remount license plate under tail, homemade aluminum covers over isolator holes and front pulley and I polish every part I work on that's aluminum. Inverted Y front exhaust mount.

Favorite Rides (Roads and Routes): |
|
Why I do/don't ride a Buell: |
It's a lot of fun to ride and it STILL draws attention wherever I go.
|
How can Buell improve their motorcycles?: |
None now that the isolators and the shock have been taken care of by Buell, Thank You! Newest request is to dis-associate Buell with Harley dealers because Harley dealers don't know jack $hit about sport bikes, their riders or Buells.
