Problems/Miles (Please be specific): |
150 mi, clutch slips/horrible freeway handling (new clutch, tighten head bearings.) 200 mi replace tires with used Metzler m-1 from GSXR to see if handling is tire related (dealer does not recommend as Buell will not warranty and denies tires are cause of 'wobble' at freeway speeds.) 350 mi, engine shuts off after passing a line of traffic, restarts after turning ignition off and then back on (dealer finds nothing wrong). 400 mi, re-install stock tires so Buell regional rep can test ride (finds nothing wrong and thinks handling is fine after his 50 mi ride.) Summary, motorcycle purchased in Jan 07 after riding a demo twice. The demo is flawless, mine stumbles under 2500 rpm, has tire? related wobble at speed, needed a new clutch because of? and the engine shuts off periodically. Service and Buell insist the Bike is fine: however, their demo has the same tires and handles fine, mine with the Metzlers was perfect, but with the stock tires is not good on the freeway, scary on raingroves, and unridable on steel bridges. The BAS recall notice came on Feb. 22, and the parts are due in next week, April 15. In total, my Uly has spent well over a month in dealer service and has cost me $270 for towing and $280 labor to change tires for my handling experiment.

Why I do/don't ride a Buell: |
When it works, its one of the best hard driving motorcycles for bumpy, twisting roads while also being a comfortable commuter. And I think it looks good too.
|
How can Buell improve their motorcycles?: |
Listen to the owners of the bike about real problems, respond, not blow them off.
