Gainesville H-D. They've been great!
|
Performance Mods!: |
XB9: Drummer exhaust.
|
Problems/Miles (Please be specific): |
XB: A leaking oil level sensor early on, a light out in the instrument cluster, a failed front brake light switch, ran rough in heavy rain twice, failed main transmission bearing cage at 27K. It's a really great bike, has been repaired, and has found a good new home. XB12XT: failed interactive exhaust actuator at 1200 miles--replaced under warranty. Very rarely early on: stumbled off idle, probably related to bad gas or the exhaust issue. Interactive exhaust actuator failed again at about 3000 miles--replaced under warranty--another quick and efficient job by GHD&B.
|
Other Mods/Misc/Customization.: |
XB9: Buell saddle bags,Cortech sport tail-bag, Rev-pac tank bag, Buell tank bag, Uly hand-guards. XB12XT: Buell tank bag. Seat modified by L&S Auto Trim in Gainesville, FL. Boots with humoungous thick soles.

Favorite Rides (Roads and Routes): |
N. GA, TN,and NC area, especially the Cherohala Skyway and the alleged Thunder Rd. The backroads from my home town Lexington, KY down to the Pallisades at the river. The Grand Tetons area wasn't bad either.
|
Why I do/don't ride a Buell: |
Grew up (sort of) lusting after a Triumph Bonnie. By the time I was able to afford something like a nice Brit bike they weren't making them anymore. Sportsters were the closest thing around. My Buell feels the way I always imagined it would feel to ride something like one of the old Triumphs. I know my Buell is a way better machine, but we're talking about a Triumph of the imaginary sort here. Also no chain to lube, no valve adjustments, no weird shaft drive effects, torquey engine, excellent chassis/suspension/handling, reasonably priced, different, and funner than just about anything else!
|
How can Buell improve their motorcycles?: |
Build a sport-tourer for short people. OK, the XT is close, just a couple of more inches lower and I would be able to get both sets of toes on the ground simultaneously.
|
Life History/Philosophy: |
Life history: checkered. Philosophy: I never truly learned to appreciate the absurd until after I was endarkened. Embrace the absurdity! You'll feel much better. I know I did.
|
Top speed on 2 wheels (mph): |
Welll----the speedo said 145mph. Stupid, stupid, stupid! what was I thinking!
|
Preferred engine oil (brand/grade): |
H-D Syn 3, because I don't know any better.
