Problems/Miles (Please be specific): | 500 miles - rear wheel bearings 600 miles - front head gasket 1000 miles - speed sensor 1500 miles - rear wheel bearings 2000 miles - speed sensor 3500 miles - warped front rotor 5000 miles - speed sensor 5005 miles - shock leaks 7500 miles - speed sensor 8000 miles - head gaskets 9000 miles - exhaust bolts failed 10000 miles - rear brake master clogged 10800 miles - replace rear rotor with wave rotor and cleaned out the master, all works fine. 10800 - brand new rear wheel - original was shagged, bad bearings, bad axle spacer. Also first time running Syn3 in here - both places. smooter shifting, 11500 - rear isolaters - I blame the infinite road work happening this summer 11850 - new turn signals, horn blown. 12000 - base gaskets - blown 12050 - engine cuts out sporadically - thank God it was just a pinched gas tank vent hose. 12500 - beginning to rattle in the primary - time to upgrade the primary chain tensioner. and new clutch, maybe clutch bearings... 12800 - Belt snapped!!! on may way to work. since I had it apart, I added zipper adjustable pushrod tubes (Thanks Jolly!), new primary chain tensioner as it was cracked in half! and in the middle of replacing those damn isolators on this M2 (I wish this one time only that I had an X1....) this job is a P.I.t.A. also redid the clutch with new Barnett clutch - I did not replace the 'grenade plate' as it is so lovingly referred to on this site, and that may come to haunt me real soon, but funds are short.... at any rate, the isolators are killing me...I may surrender her to the dealer to get that isolator in. 2015 - Isolators went in just fine. Do the Scott free method - best one out there! replaced base gaskets (again), zippers gaskets on the pushrod tubes, installed new front isolator, installed the oil gear, installed new oil lines *old ones were dry and brittle) tacked in a steel plate under batter (old one was rusted and gone) hone and ring job on the cylinders. they were pretty shot - rear cylinder was really bad. new intake seals, lapped the valves, new vales seals, etc etc. 18250 miles - running like a top, but now the rear shock is leaking. again. |
Other Mods/Misc/Customization.: | replace with brand new front forks (a steal at $75 for the pair!!! gotta love ebay sometimes... replace rear shock - factory replacement, again, thanks to ebay installed Y fornt exhaust mount, new exhaust gaskets while it was off. Ratbuell assisted in cleaning up the carb for me then too. installed Ulysses hand guards - perfect fit. love the look. Barnett clutch at 12800miles brand new stock exhaust can back on the bike. no more crazy torque from 4K to redline RPM...sad. But bottom end has returned! Also, between 3K and 4K, this thing rides like it is on glass - no shake or vibration AT ALL - smoothest bike on the road. |
Favorite Rides (Roads and Routes): | white mountains in Vermont |
Why I do/don't ride a Buell: | my m2 is just a raucous, obnoxious, rowdy bike, with kick ass grunt and attitude update - since installing the stock can back on, the bike has become a little more civilized, (to my neighbors delight) but the torque has returned below 4K RPM. forgot how awesome that low end torque was. |
How can Buell improve their motorcycles?: | Make them again! |
Life History/Philosophy: | |
