Why I do/don't ride a Buell: |
I've always admired innovative design, high performance, and bold styling. I met Eric at his farm back in 1986, discussed building up one of his kits using my 1984 XR-1000. He had just started using the XL1200 motor at that time. I couldn't afford the kit, but I admired his vision and drive. I modified the XR-1000 into a café bike. An early version was featured in Iron Horse #129. I am now making improvements to the XR I couldn't way back in the 80s. After looking hard at Guzzi sportbikes, I stumbled on the 1125R and was hooked.
|
How can Buell improve their motorcycles?: |
Moot point these days, innit?
|
Life History/Philosophy: |
I like learning and challenges: trying to do the difficult or dangerous well, fixing or building, designing or modifying things to improve them or better suit my needs. Embodied cognition and the real matter to me, not virtual, algorithmic, or abstract mental wanking.
|
Top speed on 2 wheels (mph): |
140 (modified 1983 Honda CB1100F) Have since managed about the same on the 1125R.
|
Preferred engine oil (brand/grade): |
Motul 300 SAE15-W50
