Birthday (Year) & Occupation: |
1956 - 2 jobs: Daytime Graphic Designer 33 years. Evenings Dental Equipment repair 21 years. Still doing both. Back in the day I had 2 years of vocational auto mechanics training. Graduated and started as a line mechanic in the Chevy dealership, then on to being a service writer, then assistant service manager. Got tired of that and took a job in a machine shop for a few years, then went back to the Chevy shop, then got tired of that again and took some training to become a layout artist for a publisher, then up a few steps over the next few years, more training, and leveled off as a senior designer. Got bored with that but needed to feed the family so I stayed with the day job and started a dental equipment repair business. Still doing both and I ride when I can.....Retired from full time design job as of November 2022.....Woohoo

Model Year (Please enter full 4-digit year): |
1996 - #187 out of the 200 1996 S2's built
Color: |
Black, white, gray. I've tried to eliminate all color from the bike. It has smoke colored turn signals on it since I posted this pic to eliminate the yellow lenses. I named the bike "Raging Buell". It seemed to fit...

Performance Mods!: |
Andrews N4 Cams, T-Storm heads and pistons, 27 tooth trans sprocket, K&N air filter, SE Ignition box, Mikuni 42mm flat slide pumper, Vance & Hines can, Pirelli Diablo Rosso II Tires, Brembo double piston Ducati rear caliper and master cylinder, oil cooler, etc.
Problems/Miles (Please be specific): |
Biggest problem is I can't ride it slow...
Other Mods/Misc/Customization.: |
Custom aluminum gauge panel and belt guard, stationary rear fender, modified body panels, flyscreen, bent kickstand, other misc mods. MY bike looks more like a Lightning than a Thunderbolt. It was a real mess when I got it.
Favorite Rides (Roads and Routes): |
Ohio Routes 374, 78, 664, and 555
Why I do/don't ride a Buell: |
It's different, steers quick, leans easy, and the big twin torque, oh my, the torque...
How can Buell improve their motorcycles?: |
Bring back a basic tube frame model
Life History/Philosophy: |
Top speed on 2 wheels (mph): |
125 indicated two up on a 75 Boxer Daytona Orange R90/S in the middle of the night on Interstate 70 in eastern Ohio heading east. That bike was a killer. Its no wonder they are so collectible and pricey today. About the same speed solo on my warmed over 1000 Guzzi SP.
Preferred engine oil (brand/grade): |
Valvoline 4T full synthetic 20W-50 with a twist of STP for the zinc
Current and Past Rides: |
1983 Moto Guzzi 1000SP, 1975 Triumph T160 Trident, 1977 Honda XL100 Dirt Bike, 1956 Triumph Tiger 110, 1959 Triumph Tiger 110, 1974 Triumph Trophy Trail, 1959 Triumph 5TA Speed Twin, 1964 Honda Sport 50 |
