Special O.P.S muffler.

Problems/Miles (Please be specific): |
Clutch cable broke at 1500 miles and only a few months into the 2-year warranty. Dealer refused to cover under warranty. I had to buy and install the cable myself. Engine sweated oil from the crank case seal in front, right below the front cylinder ever since new.

Why I do/don't ride a Buell: |
Buell makes cool motorcycles but I no longer own one because their dealer support sucks. With the exception of one dealership of all the ones I've had the misfortune of having to walk into, they all treat Buell customers like garbage. I won't own another Buell until the dealer problem is corrected. They also need to address some quality issues and stop using cheap switchgear. Corrosion is a problem with fasteners and axles with Buells. Their muffler paint sucks too.
|
How can Buell improve their motorcycles?: |
Both headlights with high/low beam so they are both on. Longer front fender option in regular Surlyn (not expensive, waste of money carbon fiber) plastic for better engine protection. Ability to order parts directly from website. Better dealer/customer support and parts availability. Bring back the Race muffler! Better switchgear. Stop with the mixing and matching parts bin type models... the XB type frame is getting old and boring now. They seem to be stuck with the design. Fuel in frame is cool, but I want to see the whole engine(like the Wakan)and a V-twin bike should be nice and slim when viewed from above. I eventually grew to hate the fat look of my Lightning Long, especially with the ugly frame pucks.

Life History/Philosophy: |
Was my 2nd Buell (and 24th bike overall) and my 1st Buell was a 2003 XB9S in black. New SV1000S is my 30th bike. I love my new SV. After I install a LSL superbike bar conversion, it will be near perfect. I love it much more than my old Buell and the styling and performance are much, much better... but I still like Buells and I miss the clean and quiet, slop free belt drive, they just have severely crappy dealer support...
