Been away for a long time ever since I sold my 02' M2 in the summer of 2005. Well I just picked up an 09' 1125R last month and immediately started lurking on the BadWeb again. I never had much input before back in the day. I primarily just like to check the huge knowledge base that is the BadWeb. I am very glad though that I'm back on a Buell. |

Hello! I just bought my first Buell....I bought it as a Christmas surprise for my wife, but quickly falling in "strong like" of this little but nimble and extremely fun machine....I have had many Triumph, Kawi's and Harleys over the years and currently have a new Victory...but I am having a (forgive the pun) "blast" getting this deal going and getting excited to put a bow on it for my wife....even though I think I'll be riding it more than her. I got it for $800.00 and even though it looks clean, it was garaged for too long and didn't run....just starting to take it apart and trying to avoid the mods until I first present it. I have been looking through your forums and it really seems like a good group of riders/enthusiasts! I'm sure Ill be asking questions as I start taking it apart. Cheers!

Hello, My name is John and I just purchased my first Buell, a 2009 xb12xt, red, bone stock, with 20k miles. This is my 15+ bike, I lost count lol. I've always wanted a Buell since 1997 when I graduated high school. I checked the oil level (black oil) and other things and took off. I rode about 30 miles and noticed that downshifting from 4th on down was horrible. I had to double tap and force it down. I took her home and changed the fluids. They were AWFUL! I went back out for about another 150 miles and the downshifting is still bad. Everything else is perfect! I will be searching the forum and performing some maintenance for sure to cure the downshifting issue. I love this bike! Thanks for having me and I look forward to a lot of miles ahead on this baby. r/ John |

Welcome to Badweb! Dumb question I know, but you realized there are two oil systems on the XB, right? One for the tranny, one for the engine. Its rare, but a couple of times people have drained the tranny, then filled the engine, and proceeded to ride with an empty tranny and lock it up. Assuming you got it right, which you no doubt did, make sure you are running the right primary fluid (Mobil 1 20w50, Amsoil 20w50, or Harley Formula+). And make sure the primary chain tension is set correctly, and the clutch is adjusted correctly. That generally cleans up the shifting pretty well. It will never be Japanese in feel, but it will usable if a bit agricultural. |

Long time Buell rider here just saying hello. Had a beautiful S2 (should have kept it as a collector's item!) and still enjoy my '06 Ulysses. |

Joined today, but have been watching for a while-plan on building an S1 from scratch, getting it a piece at a time, and the BadWeb is awesome-never realized how active this community is! I work for HDMC in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, and assemble engines, and although I enjoy my job, I really am a big fan of Erik's bikes, and being from Wisconsin, EBR is right in my backyard. Look forward to building my bike, and meeting all of you! |

Hello All, The names Graeme and hail from Suffolk (UK). Only have a car on the road at the moment, still got my 97 M2 - bought it new (the best of the M2s). The M2 got parked up when child #2 came along (Geez..he's 5 now, ran out of time and money), been doing a bit of work on it over winter, resurrecting it this year. Keep your eyes open for a thing of beauty this spring

I don't know if EB will be back for me. My heart is near the bikes he did not try to build after leaving HD: SCG, Lightning, Ulysses. (Message edited by Tik on May 14, 2015) |

New to Buells, recently bought an '09 1125CR. Been riding since the early '70's, Harley's since '80. Well known on Shovelhead.us. Do nearly all of my own work on my bikes, hoping to pick up technical information on my Buell. I have the manuals for the bike, but they don't always tell the whole story...

Welcome Roconroad! I had the tall and short windshield for my Uly when I bought it, I hated the tall one, it just moved the buffeting from where I didn't really care (chest) to where it really bugged me (helmet and throat). I gave it to Prior, who hated it too, and he auctioned it off for some good cause to somebody else (who we hope didn't hate it). Some people like them, a lot of people don't, so if you can try one before you buy one you might save yourself some $$. I also have both seats. The "tall" seat is really not much taller, it is more wider. not a huge difference between the two, but an inch can mean a mile I suppose. You might be better swapping out for the XT suspension with somebody. Not sure how involved that gets. |

Welcome Panshovevo! Nice CR, you are in the right place to get technical information. Not quite as much here for the 1125's as there is for the air cooled bikes, but that may just be because they are newer and break less often. Lots of good expertise available, and lots to be discovered. |

I just picked up a 97 Cyclone..it had been sitting in a garage for a few years because the owner didn't have time to repair a few things I bought it, did the repairs and it's on the road...I been riding Triumphs for 45 years so this Buell is very different...And fun.. |

Hi all~ Just bought my first Buell (XB9XS CityX) yesterday. Looking around for communities and resources, because I know it's going to be hard to find parts and support for my new bike.

Thanks for the add; new Buell Uly rider. Bought in Fall of '13 and been on a learning curve since. Most of my experience has been typical V-twins, low, slow, predicable... The Uly is a beast compared to the bagger, but I love the ride. A big thank you for many helpful posts that have guided me thru the mysteries of Buells. Been to the Dragon with my sons; one on another Uly, the other pedaling a Suzuki 650 single. Had a great time, with this being our first trip together. Enjoy the journey for that's what riding is all about. |
