Hi again, the bike is already wearing a Remus exhaust and sounds so good it makes your hair stand on end. I love the bike, and have been riding it about this morning, and listening to everything, and to be honest I reckon that I am like a new parent panicking everytime the baby cries. I guess that after riding whisper quiet jap bikes for years, the Buell is a culture shock. I should have bought one before, I have been missing out on one hell of a grunty, fine handling, well built bike. Nigel

After about 15 years on not riding, I picked up an 00 Blast when gas went over $2.75 per gallon this spring. I didn't expect much for under $2K and didn't even test ride it. It turns out that "Blast" is the perfect name for this bike! Despite a bit more wrenching than I was expecting and trouble getting parts I'm loving getting back in the saddle! It seems that everyone I meet knows what a Buell is, but nobody else has one that I've met or seen on the road. I'm so glad to find this forum. I've been looking out for XB9SX's on E-bay. I think that's next.

2wheels - welcome! This is a great forum for Buell information. Be sure to check out the Thumper Forum. It is dedicated to the Blast! There is another Bueller from Blue Ash here on BadWeb. My husband & I lived in Cincinnati (Springdale & Springfield Twp) before moving to NC. What part of Cincy are you from?

Greetings from Seattle, USA. I finally pulled the trigger on my first Buell product (06 XB12X) and decided to join the best owner's forum on the web.

I'm really enjoying the bike a lot, though I do find it incredible that the incessantly-shrieking cooling fan would make it past quality control at the factory. I gotta find a solution for the weak front lights as well. All advice welcome.

Other than that I wouldn't change a thing. I'm sure I still will, though. : )

Anyway just wanted to introduce myself before I started looking through the rest of the site.

Hi y'all,

Been having a Blast on my Blast. Three things I need to know:

Does the Givi A602 windshield work good with stock bars? I'm 5'11" and slouch a bit while riding. I don't want the wind blocked from my helmet, just my chest.

Can I use a straight pipe from an XLC 1200? Everyone around here runs straight pipes and no one seems to care.

What is the diameter of the stock exhaust ports?

Now for a little 'bout me. I'll ride anything with two wheels--not stuck up. I've ridden everything from a liquorcycle to an Ultra-Classic. I'm currently lusting for a Black Denim StreetBob.

Between the wife and I, we have 4 bikes:
H-D FLHTCUI, Blast, Ninja 250 and her bike, a Yamaha V-Rod 250 (she thinks it looks like a Sportster).

We live near Charlotte, NC. I just wanted to say, "Hey!" and ask a few questions. Live long and ride it like you stole it.

Troy Lee - I heard a story that Troy Lee personally only ever painted one motorcycle and he did the job in 1993. It was a Buell RS1200 and the story goes that he was such a perfectionist that he became so frustrated while painting the bike, he swore he would never paint another one.

Anyone ever heard this story?

I own a 03 Firebolt(xb9r) and I've been waiting a week for a 1 MUTHAFUCKIN PART! I have a warranty and I feel that I'm getting screwed because of it. I feel if this was a nonwarranty service, I wouldn't be waiting nearly this long. Is this really the case, or am I just going through withdrawl from not riding my Buell? It's just a fitting to my oil pump. sucks.

Trying to find someone that can give me an idea on why my 2000M2 Cyclone is spitting all of the trans fluid out of the top vent hose. It's the 1200 XL Sporty engine.

Hello all- just traded my 2000 X-1 for an XB 12Ss(I pick it up next saturday) I was wondering how I can go about posting my X-1 bits in classified -i have all kinds of stuff for the X-1 that wont work w/my new bike.-I have attempted to get my old username and password reset to no avail. -mr_obsessive ps-CANT WAIT to BREAK-IN the NEW BIKE!!!

HEY, IM NEW HERE, IM GOING TO BUY A NEW FIREBOLT IN THE SPRING. I HAVE A 1970 SPORTSTER NOW AND IM READY FOR A FUN BIKE. I ASSEMBLED MY SPORTY FROM MILK CRATES AND BRING IT TO SHOWS AND STUFF BUT ITS MORE OF A BAR HOPPER. IM READY FOR AN XB12R. Hi, all! Last year I found this site, read it, enjoyed it immensely. At the time I was looking for a Buell, and was given some good advice by BadWeb members, as well as being made to feel welcome, especially by Twisty_dan and mikej. Thanks guys.

Reason I was looking at Buells? They intrigued hell out of me for their neat engineering, and due to some hip arthritis, they were some of the few bikes I could sit on reasonably comfortably. Since then, I managed to acquire a 2004 XB12R, with only 2166 miles. Changed the footpegs to S models (again, the hip thing), and launched it a couple of days ago. I won't have long to ride before the rains move in big time, but I'm using any excuse to get on the road for now.

Impressions - after growing up with British bikes and offroad singles in the 1970's, vibration is not as bad as expected. Handling is razor sharp, brakes great. I'm just learning what the bike can do and re-learning my own limits, so am not pushing it yet. But damn, after a 20 year absence, it feels great to be back on two wheels again.

Whats up Buell heads! I bought my 96 S2 new in 1997. Went the Thunderstorm way at 12000 Mi.rode the shit out of it till summer 2001.Wanted more power ,Buell dealer would`nt take the S2 on trade on new cyclone, Honda dealer said Buell & 3000 I`m riding new 929!Loved it.Easy to find trouble & missing V Twin-motor I bought 02 Honda 996 Superhawk in the end of 2003.Found my old S2 badly beatin & abused.Took the old stray in a couple weeks back.2006 & im going back-words & loving every min.The Superhawk is a better machine in most ways.But im pleased to have my Buell home.I`ll post pic`s if I can figure it out.I tried to post pic with bio. it says its to big,HELP!

I am having a little problem. Me and my friend both ride Buells. He rides the XB12R and I ride the XB9R. We are planning to swap our primary covers(he has what i want and I have what he wants)and I just purchased the service manual for both of our bikes but I can not figure out how to put the primary chain lubericant into the bike. I am feeling mighty retarded.I know that there is a fill point on the bottom of the primary cover and i understand how it works but is there some kind of special tool to make it work?

thank you for making this web site possible. my wife and i have bought a used 2001 blast with a much needed oil change and i'm sure a few other services. with out your information available i could have blown 100$ easy. insted i spent under 15$ doing the oil change my self. i hope to find handy infomation like this in the future. i will be sure to check out this site again.

Hey Yall, Just had to say hello from the great lakes state. Just purchased as you guessed it an xb9s. I lowballed someone with a super low offer of 4000 on an 03 xb9s with 300 miles, yes, 300 miles. Not even broke in yet. The seller took the lowball offer and I am now the owner of this awesome machine. I just sold my big v twin cruiser(victory) because I was ready for a fun , solo bike. Im very new to the whole sport bike world, but 200 miles later I cant stop smilin'. I would like to put on a taller windscreen, any suggestions would be great. Hi all, I'm a sport and touring rider with 40+ years of street, dirt, and road racing experience. I've owned 50+ bikes of nearly every brand (most bought used), have 10 in the garage now, but half are my wife's (she demands parity). The latest are an '06 Long (mine), an '04 XL1200R (hers), and an '01 FLHT (ours). We are into Velocettes, too.

We have friends who own Buells (hi Debbie). I test rode a few, but it wasn't until the '06 Long that I found one that fit me. The XBRR program put me over the edge, and I got my XB12Ss back in March. Various dealer f'ups have kept it off the road for a while, but it has 1500 miles on it now and impresses me more every time I take it out.

A shout out to Al at American Sport Bike for having the parts and accessories IN STOCK that my dealer was clueless about. What can I say about a guy who even likes the same handgrips that I do?

I am a car guy, which also means I dig everything with a motor. Grew up around Harley stuff. Wanted an X-1 when hey came out, couldn't afford one. So, around this time last year I bought a wrecked X-1, and so it began, I am up to five Buells. The cool part was, last month at the drag strip they had the first Sportster-Buell Shoot Out. I went to check out bikes, and the guys checking the racers in were like "c'mon, help us fill the ladder for the races..." So, I found myself finishing in Third place, won $100. Not too bad out of 15 racers.
By the way, there is no known cure. But, on another note, torque is an underrated anti-depressant!!!
Don't worry, the Buells have stuff to keep them company in my garage, including an old Triumph TR6C(the bike with high pipes, not the car!), an XS 650 or two, some Sportsters including a 1200 Sport with four plug heads and a mean set of "Thigh Burning" Super Trapp high pipes(did I mention I always wanted an XR 750?!?), Oh and I couldn't leave out my gas powered pogo stick, NO REALLY, runs on Cox model air plane fuel, called a "Pop-Rod"! Hey, the name is Matt. I have been riding HD since I was 12, when for my birthday I got a basket-case 1953 Hummer 125. Since then I have gone through a slew of dirtbikes, ATV's, a CB200, a 2002 Triumph 955i, 3 sportsters, a super glide, and my 2000 X1 millenium edition #40 of 800. My bike has gone from stock to sweet, wrecked, fur-covered, carbon fibered out, to now a airtech streamliner grand prix S1 fairing with a hayabusa rear rim. Now I am contemplating using a Triumph single, which will extend me 4" (hey ladies! lol ) and finally have me feeling like my buell is beyond what those 100000 dollar chppers show when I'm in crappy bike week. Chase is one of my best friends, I got some good stories for him, and he has seen me do some stupid stuff myself..... like the stoppie on the guy who cut him off or the 8 minute run from the Banque to Lynnhaven...... Oh well, hello all. You got a question? I either know it or will find it with all of my burnout friends. I am NOT afraid to do new stuff to my bike, so suprise me with suggestions.

After several months of debating, I purchased a 2002 M2 cyclone this weekend. It is the first non-japanese bike I have ever owned. It did not miss a beat on the 200 mile trip home and the torque, well that was simply amazing. I have already had several questions answered by searching this site and am greatful that this wealth of information exists. Looking forward to discussing Buells with all of you.
