Have some downtime so finally ordering the grips. Anyone happen to have the correct diameter? I can measure tomorrow if not.

7/8 and 1" on the throttle side sounds familiar

Figured the throttle side would be a little bigger but I'll go for it. Thanks guys.

Yes, the right side is slightly larger to accommodate the throttle tube.

It's pretty common to have a motorcycle with the throttle on the right side, lol: )

I've assumed that throttle tubes had an OD to match industry standard grips or vice versa.

Looks looking at Koso Apollo grips they sell a pair of 7/8 and a 7/8 1" pair my concern was that the 7/8 pair is for something like a snowmobile or quad that doesn't use a twist throttle

I can vouch that these will fit just fine on an RX1190.

Ok, took the right grip off of the bike and the grip itself is 1" ID due to the throttle. If I had checked the manufacturers website the 7/8+1 is for twist throttle. The guys on amazon who get the 7/8+7/8 have to use a dremel.

So for my application it will be 7/8+1 130mm which may be 3/16" too long for anyone running stock bar ends. I have barkbusters on mine.

Thanks guys I will toss up some pictures when installed.

Those look pretty neat, man. I might have to check whether it fits with a Rev2 throttle kit.

They showed up today (ordered Wednesday night here Tuesday afternoon) so I just threw 20 minutes at the project, thoughts so far.

101 shipped from amazon.

Finish and quality looks excellent.

Left bar on an SX is knurled.

Do not attempt to twist the grip on the knurl it will go great and seems like it is meant to be then you will stop dead 1.75 inches from target and start questioning your choices in life.

Do not attempt to "persuade" the grip on with a 21mm socket and a rubber mallet.

Amazon reviews that discussed using sandpaper on the inside of the grip may have been on to something.

Left grip definitely will NOT require superglue when installed.

Right grip should be a lot easier.

May hook the grips up and set them to 167 degrees and see if the left wants to move.

Other than that, I am pretty happy with the purchase and I will probably try again tomorrow.

Using compressed air makes life very easy to install grips

I've always used hair spray on the inside of the grip.
Lubricates it during the install and then dries to be adhesive.

Compressed air as inflating the grip as it goes on?

These have a solid plastic sleeve, similar to the throttle tube.

So just got home and the shop is a balmy 80 degrees inside (sad that I have to run the oil burner this late) managed to turn the grip a couple more times so I am now half a turn and 1/4" from target.

Spent 5 minutes on the project then decided I was thirsty, icy cold Genesee longnecks yum yum.

So at my current rate of progress I should have the grips on by Friday night.

I will get some pics up of the finished project when complete.

They just re-salted the roads last night so definitely took away some of my motivation

I think thats scary and looking for catastrophe: ( I would NOT install those.

I see my mistake now. I thought you were looking for universal "Motorcycle grips", and didn't consider bicycles, some quads, and snowmobiles, etc.
There isn't enough glue in the world for me to trust holding plastic against the metal bar. Lord, can you imagine!?! Yikes.

Motorcycle grips should be rubber on the inside, with the exception of the right one ONLY IF it comes with a Buell specific throttle tube to replace.

Definitley throw those away.

Searching "Motorcycle grips, 7/8" bar" should get you a proper set with rubber ID grips that will accommodate your throttle tube (bigger on the right).

Searching "Buell motorcycle grips" may yield you a set that will easily bolt on the right with a new throttle tube, and squeeze on the left with air pressure. Hairspray does work too, but DON'T use both tricks at once! The air will dry the spray almost immediately and make a mess.

Sorry need to get the pics up but completed the install they will never come off the knurled metal bar and the only other great hint is toss the glue that comes with them it's junk. They work great and look awesome the integrated control is worth it's weight in gold.
