Tire choice is a very subjective thing. The tires I love, someone else will hate; and the tires they love, I may not care for. That's why tire and oil threads are so volatile. That said, I really like the Angel GTs. I ran them on my XT and I also ran them in my Moto Guzzi Norge. If Pirelli made them in sizes to fit my Roadster, they'd be my next set of tires. | ||

Huge fan of the Pilot Road series tires. I have a set of PR4's on my S3T and will put a set on my SX very shortly. | ||

I've had two fronts, and three rears in 30,000 miles on my S3T. I ride Late March to early December here in Mn. while I don't take the bike if its raining when I leave in the morning, I'm geared up to ride home in the rain, ( or whatever) if I have to. They're as grippy as I dare to be, but what I like most is as they wear the the grip doesn't suddenly go away. You can feel your daily cloverleaf "line" changing as it wears. ( Hmm, in June I was ten feet in from the yellow line at the exit, now I'm only four....) The SX Beta is going to need a rear once I start riding it this spring. I was considering other tires, but there must be a reason EBR went with the Diablo Rosso, and I doubt it was cost. | ||

The factory Supercorsas on my 2017 were toast for me at 2200 miles. Still some tread, but badly flat spotted on the rear from the 1200 mile trip home with the bike, and the front was badly cupped. I went with Rosso IIIs. I only have about 10 miles on them, so not really any fair comparison to draw as of yet. | ||

Rosso are basically a street and occasional track tire. Not a daily commuter/weekend warrior tire. A lot of people overbuy tires which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it's wasted money. They don't last when you spend 95% of your time riding in the straight up position. | ||

I have Angel GTs on my SX and most of my XBs too, it is my go to tire. Plenty of grip and lasts a long time. | ||

I wear out the sides of all my tires first. My fav is Dunlop Q3's. | ||

Dual compound is the way to go, regardless of brand. I'm a huge fan of the Pilot Roads. Have PR4's on my CR and M2; have an older set of PR2's on my S2 and S1W. My Uly is about to lose it's PR's for a set of Avon Trailmasters - still a dual compound, but much more off-pavement-friendly than the PR's (I miss getting the Uly muddy!). PR's roll very smoothly from shoulder to shoulder, transitions are very nice with no blocky sections from full left to full right. Good tread siping in wet - I've blown through up to 1/2" of standing water with no issues and wet pavement is not a concern. Tread life is excellent, but as I said - any dual compound will net you that, it comes down to your brand preference and desired tread purpose. | ||

I'll still be commuting on the S3. The SX Beta is just for the occasional fun ride outing. If Froggy says Angel GTs work well for his SX, I might go with that advice since I like the tire anyway. | ||

Yeah I think Froggy and Crusty pushed me closer to the GTs. My spring trip will probably be about 5000 miles then add in luggage weight. The Diablos will have to set this one out. | ||

I located a tire to try on the EBR short term. It is not a Pirelli, as I intended. Its a Dunlop Roadsmart III. The tire itself gets good reviews. (motorrad Jan 17) Supposedly better wet grip than a Pro Pilot, comparable dry to Angel GTs, and longer wear than both. Heres the thing. The tire I bought was a 180/55/17 not a 190. This is the correct size for my S3, so I thought I would chance it. I don't forsee any issues with this 1cm difference in width and 5mm in section height, but I'm not an expert on such things. Is there something I need to look out for? Anybody have experience with the tire? | ||

I have good luck commuting and twisty riding on Angel GTs. Got 10,000 miles out of a pair on the XT. I would not recommend them for track days. A very nice street tire. |
