After a few minutes of sitting in the garage after the ride home, my RX frame gets so warm that the fuel in the frame boils! I can take the fuel cap off and hear it bubble. I'm also concerned about how warm the fairing is around the exhaust. Has anyone else experienced this? Has anyone tried putting any sort of heat shielding around the frame and/or fairing? |

My XB12R does this also, so it's not unique to the 1190RX. The 1190 frame already has an advanced Aerogel heat shield on the inward frame surfaces. |

Rvod does it, Panigale does it, ninja and Apes do it. Lots of bikes have frames that get hot enough at times to boil the fuel in the their tanks. The fuel in frame design makes it more noticeable is all. |

Yep this has been a fairly common phenomenon since the XBs came out over a decade ago. It is nothing to worry about, and the frame already has insulation on it but you can likely add more. I wouldn't worry. |

More interior frame insulation, wrapping the header tubes and more ignition timing (IDS's "Secondary Muffler removal" ECM) got rid of all my hot gas issues..! Still probably warmer than I'd like, but it's not boiling..! Even after yesterdays 99 degree afternoon heat and my 25mph splitting lane, trek for near 40 miles, drive home yesterday, no funny sounds from the frame... I'll probably be adding even more timing in the near future. And yea, for power...hot fuel IS a problem. The denser the fuel, the more power can be made, just the opposite for "hot" fuel, as in less power. See physics class, 101. Mike |

Solution: don't put it in the garage, keep riding. |

My 1125R track bike does the same thing. The frame is very well insulated and the exhaust is wrapped. It is a result of the design. I do not believe much more can be done. The track bike has an advantage of dumping into a can can. I can watch the gas bubble through the vent line going to the catch can |

Look at it this way when the gas is hot it expands so now you have more gas so better gas mileage and helps keep you warm in the winter |

Nobuell - Interesting..!? Wasn't as hot today, but the same crappy traffic. Very low airflow with a solid row of cars on both side, 20/25mph my whole trip home. No heard or felt bubbling of fuel.! I actually checked after getting off the freeway and at home, about 3 miles off the freeway. Do you have the stock ignition timing maps in your ECM ? That has a lot to do with it. Mike |
