Added Speedymoto bars for a more upright riding position. They fit with no clearance issue. Also purchased a SlingShot racing gas cap . Its identical to EBR's without the logo. (Message edited by dmhines on March 12, 2015) |

Very nice indeed! Actually the EBR cap doesn't have the slots between the bolts, but I think yours looks better . |

EBR is identical. Even the included hardware. http://www.erikbuellracing.com/store/models/1190rx /quick-action-fuel-cap-black.html |

I installed one on my 1125 last year. Within a month the base gasket started leaking. I found out on the track when I smelled gas and noticed liquid all over my frame. I contacted the supplier and they very quickly sent a number of replacements. They were looking into it and determined it was most likely the alcohol that we have in the gas here. The were looking into alternate materials. I did check it at the end of track season and it was getting soggy. I need to contact them about alternate materials. Aside from the gasket issue, it is a very nice piece. |

You talking about the o-ring on the cap ? This one has no other gasket. (Message edited by dmhines on March 13, 2015) |

The version I have uses a gasket that seals the base of the assembly that attaches to the frame/tank. Your does not have a base gasket? How does it seal against the frame/tank? The o-ring on the cap has not been an issue. |

Mine did not come with a gasket between the assembly and the tank. After you posted I took it back off and realized it would make sense to have one. I went to Ace Hardware store and found an exact fit round Rubber gasket to put in there. Without the gasket I can see why you could smell gas fumes. I wonder if the EBR version has a gasket. They do not show in in their pictures. |

Watch the gasket. More than likely, a hardware store rubber washer is intended for plumbing applications. If so it is likely a Nitril (NBR) or Butyl (IIR) compound. Neither material is compatible with gasoline, especially E10 mixes. They work very well for hot and cold water. They will swell a high percentage when exposed to fuel. That is what mine did. The washer swelled until it extruded into the tank. The proper rubber for the application would be Viton or Fluorocarbon. I would contact the manufacturer regarding the lack of the proper washer. Have them send you a replacement but make sure you ask them what compound they are using. As mentioned I have had multiple washers that they supplied fail. |

Yes. Was in plumbing section. Worst case is buy a roll of automotive gasket material and make my own gasket. Will probably need to stack a few layers to make it thick enough. I Bought 2 of them. I'll soak one in gas and see what happens to it over time. |

Soaking the rubber is a good idea. If it does not swell to badly, you are good. I found 1/8" thick Viton sheet in McMaster Carr. They also have a wide selection of Viton O-rings. I plan to pull my cap before the first races start and determine if an o-ring will work. They also have a Viton o-ring with a PTFE coating. That would be perfect if it will stay put. |

Did you try the gas soak yet? It will be interesting to see the results. Does the gas in your area have alcohol in it. Here in the Chicago area almost all has 10%. I plan to pull my cap off and check the gasket before the race season starts in few weeks. |

I pulled my cap off today. It was almost completely melted. I installed it at the end of October last year and it has been sitting in my workshop since then. I did find out that the Danco Rubber Washer is most likely SBR. That material is not recommended. An Oring will not work due to the over lap. It is ashamed they did not just machine an o-ring groove. |

I haven't done the gas test. I ordered the VITON rubber from the link above. Will just trace the DANCO washer and cut it out. Here is an older review of the EBR version .. there is no indication that it comes with a washer or gasket .. just screws like mine came with EBR Gas Cap install (Message edited by dmhines on March 23, 2015) (Message edited by dmhines on March 23, 2015) |

It does reference the rubber sealing ring near the end of the instructions. I am in the process of ordering the material as well. I have gasket punches at my work. I will have a few made to keep as track spares. |

Now throw it in the trash and make a good one (just kidding). I just received the 1/8" Viton that I ordered. When I return home from spring break vacation, I will have my shop punch out a couple. The last thing to do before my April 18th shake down track day before racing starts. Well except for installing two sets of tires, getting the new generator running, installing a new shark fin and mounting a new transponder. Getting ready never ends! |
