I am still just as happy with my S3T as I was the day I rode it home. With a unique look, relaxed upright position, more performance than my skills can handle, and good gawd what a sound it makes! I can't envision a more fun bike for me. Even while many say the Ulysses is a better touring bike, I just don't see why I would want any touring bike but my S3....

Then someone, somewhere, in this forum, used the term TX....

Now I can't stop thinking about a bike that, while not even discussed as an EBR concept, has better odds of making it to real production than a Motus !
EBR brought us three models in four years, and that's not including the 1125 race bikes you started with. I'll bet a touring bike would be breeze for your team to develop.

Please EBR, we know your core is no compromise performance in taking track tech to the street, but some of us measure performance not at the track, but on a mountaintop inside our helmet, where we lose the troubles of the world, where we could stay all day. Even if it's only the daily commute, for that moment in time, our universe is only 175 feet wide, but infinite in length.

Consider building a bike for those people like me. (Well, you should probably target people with more money than me.) Build it not for the podium, magazine articles, or even because of the possible minimal unit sales a touring bike would bring you. Build it because EBR knows the soul of motorcyclists. They know because motorcyclists are in EBR's soul. No other motorcycle company in America could deliver the american touring riders experience as purely or as effectively as EBR could.

Somewhere (I've forgotten where)I read an article that stated that when the 1125 was being planned, it was supposed to be a Sport - Tourer. But the helpful decision makers at the MoCo were afraid that it would draw sales away from the FLH platform bikes. They didn't want to compete with themselves for sales.
I suppose that it's true; I had an FLHS before I got my S3-T, and I wouldn't go back. It really would be sweet if EBR would build an updated version of the S3-T. I'd buy one in a New York Minute.

TX that was me
What we need is a kit to turn a SX into a TX. Half fairing and mounts for hard bags. Real 2 up seat would be nice
And I still think it is a good Idea

I'd love something like this. A full fairing that's a little taller and wider than the RX. SX bars and a bigger seat with hard bags, more relaxed gearing and I think you'd have something that's been missing from the market - a sport-tourer with a clear emphasis on sport. (It seems like once a bike is identified as a tourer they always grow and grow until they're too big and heavy to be fun - like the Yamaha FJ's . . . the current bike is a great bike, but at 637 lbs, it's a full-size tourer in my book, not sport tourer.)

The only barrier I see is EBR may feel that such a bike would take sales from their presumed "adventure tourer". But I don't go off-road, and I don't want the long-travel suspension, high seat and high center of gravity that will likely come with that bike.

What if you didn't have to give up one to get the other ?

Then it sounds like an updated S3-T, which is what we're asking for.
I was never afraid to ride my Thunderbolt down a dirt road. I bet you rode an S2 or an S3 down a dirt road as well.
I first asked Erik this question back in 2002; When are you going to build another Sport-Tourer? Under the principle that the squeaky wheel gets the grease, I'm going to repeat myself.

I rode an 06 uly when it first came out, and wasn't a fan of the soft front end, but the 07 I bought later doesn't bother me. I don't know if I got old or if the 07 was that much better.

Then I would say that is quite an ambitious adventurer tourer. : )

Handlebar control of suspension settings, which some manufacturers already offer, would be a big step in this direction.

I like what I'm reading.

Please make that SX w/ a windscreen, heated grips, luggage and maybe ABS????

I took a test ride on a BMW F800GT and needless to say, it fit the bill. My heart says 1190SX but for practicality purposes my head says F800GT.

I was daydreaming about the SX the other day and had a similar idea. Everything seems to be moving to a somewhat modular platform. The body parts, luggage, seats, etc. already are swapable.

What I want is a 1190TransformerX.

I want a fully automatic, electronic, adjustable suspension that includes a change in suspension travel. I want the ECU to adjust the HP/Tq and fuel economy at the push of a button. And I want to be able to take it off road or to the track.

It's got to have a full 3-bag+ luggage system that doesn't leave me with ugly bars when I remove the bags, and a seat that is actually comfortable. (The Uly seat sucks imo. Its pitched forward, and forces my balls into the airbox. Definitely a no no.)

I want this transformer package to be an option. Sell it in one of those big Al boxes that they ship music equipment in. With foam padding, etc.

So in 15-20 minutes I can make my SX a TX. Swap the sub-frame and seat, add bags, a REAL touring fairing and adjust the pegs and bar position via something cool like the RoxRisrs. Sell it to me in a optional kit for $3000 +/-.

And please don't put those stupid bubble Hepco boxes on my TX. Lets keep it a little classier than that.

Now, if you really want to 'kill it'. Make the front light assembly plug n'play swapable. The entire touring fairing with adventure style HID lights and all the farkles an easy change out. I mean REALLY EASY. Like literally two fasteners, and the whole thing unplugs! Ready to plug in a different lighting setup.

I know you WI engineers can do it.

oh... and lastly. Make it a hybrid with a 200MPGe}

Am I glad that wish fired off a thread worth reading. Remember the spirit of the bike I'm trying to recapture is the S3t, a bare bones sport bike that, while it won't drag your knees in a corner, will happily scrub the footpegs down to nubbins if you want to. Before we all start piling "I wants" onto a hypothetical model, too many features dilutes the experience and drives up the cost. With the RX and SX running around 18 grand, the add ons 46champ and MKE are mentioning keep it reasonable. I'm pretty confident already the performance limiting factor on any current or future EBR bike is going to be the rider. I don't mind tech if its already built into the system, and makes my ride safer, but I want it to be transparent in use. I shouldn't have to fiddle with anything while I'm riding.

If the AX fits the bill when it comes out so be it.

I like my Uly but 50 more horsepower 75 miles more range on a tank of fuel an alternator able to handle lectrik riding gear for two and acc. lights. and all the electronics of the KTM 1190 and now 1290 for 2015 adventure bikes. I am a buyer in waiting for EBR`s answer to KTM
