Burned area of Yosemite Valley
Yosemite Valley meadow in winter.
Oak tree against the granite walls of Yosemite Valley.
These are of a pond along the road near Fresno, along the route between Porterville and Mariposa. Cool reflections.

Absolutely beautiful! There must be a hidden message in that last shot. Or is it angel fish in clouds? Actually that's my signature, after a round or three, Drrayl |

Thanks all. Yeah, Sparky, I got a kick out of the fish-like appearance of the reflections in that last one. I've thought that they look like those really eerie deep sea fish that you'd see in National Geographic. Denise - I've been meaning to send you a card with a local shot...just so you wouldn't forget CA altogether. I'll get to it soon! |

Hey, FB - just a couple days ago I was watching the national weather and thinking that you didn't pick such a bad time to drive a van back east after all. "avoid twisty roads AT ALL COSTS!!!" Yeah, well, when I found that out about the Fizzer I got right on the line with CalTrans and talked to them about getting the kinks taken out of the mighty 190...so far they're stonewalling me. Go figure. "well, i for one don't miss you guys in the SLIGHTEST!" It has occurred to me that the first time I ride down Isabella way it's gonna feel real strange. BTW, fresh rubber on all three bikes now...batteries up to snuff across the board...now it's supposed to rain. |

near-blizzard conditions here last weekend, and 50+ mph winds. lost some big trees along the Parkway next to us, and some shingles off the roof. we sure ain't in Kansas Cali anymore... when CalTrans finishes with the Mighty 190, might as well send 'em down here to Deals Gap. on second thought, might just be easier to sell that tank of a motorcycle you have??? speakin' of rain...Sunday's s'posed to be GORGEOUS, and if so, we'll be in the wind (literally and figuratively...)

Well Dino, next time you bring the tank down this way I'll ride with you! Or maybe I should plan a run up your way, it's been a while. And quit talking to Cal-trans! Too much road straighting already! Place is getting downright boring. Great pictures! |

A couple more from my favorite pond...just before they drained it!
These next three are from the east fork of the Chowchilla River which runs past just over a rise behind the house.
A black oak with snow from an early winter storm, this in our back yard. Actually, the tree is on the rise on the way to the river.

Dino, Hey that is one cool pond. Do they drain it every year? BTW, you have a photo of Char with a baby bird on the Porterville thread. Is that a "new" scrub jay? If Stewie is a handful then you could send us one! |

Lornce - Thanks. Later today I've got to find time to get over to you thread and see what you've been up to! Unibear - Yes, we definitely do need to get together for a ride! The FZ1 is in Mariposa at the moment, but I can bring one of my other tanks. JB2 - Yep, love that pond. I found out that it belongs to an irrigation district, so I imagine they keep it full whenever they have water available for groundwater recharge. Otherwise, it goes dry. Concerning the baby bird on the P'ville thread - if'n you're talking about the one that looks like it died on Char's shoulder - here she is a few weeks later.

My oldest son (he's not a Bueller but he's ridden with me when I had a Harley and Equalean sidecar and we, as a family, always went to the Sierra Sidecar Spectacular sidecar meet at Mariposa Fairgrounds in the 80's) resides in MidPines, midway between Mariposa and Yosemite. I guess that's why they call it MidPines, eh? Whereabouts are you? |
