Thanks Dino, The Crazy Train shots were tough to pull off but I did manage a few good ones. Will actually be doing a shoot again for them tonight in Portland and will have much better lights to work with. Yeah, there is a little more to the story, will bounce ya an email with the details. Hopefully the motorcycle gods will keep shining on me and the story contiunes further. |

Well, my ears are still ringing from last night’s adventure at Sabala’s At Mt. Tabor in Portland, OR. This is the “Place” in Portland to see all of the hot local bands. I think I am starting to get old. Not able to endure 5 hours of non-stop loud rock n roll like I use to in my younger days and I was up way past my bedtime. These first set of photos are of a 3-piece band called Migration. I did not give much attention to them with the lens of my camera but I did manage to capture a few good shots while they were performing. The best way to explain the style of music they played is original progressive hard rock with a grunge twist.

Crazy Train has adopted me as their official photographer and last was the night I had to prove to myself that I could capture that moment in time that people will look at and say nice photo. I did not do too badly, with all of the people that felt compelled to spill their beer on me and all the women, that for some reason just had too look at each shot after I took it on the LCD (I really did not mind that too much). These last set of photos I did not really work to hard for, I was pretty much in kick back mode listening to the tunes. The band was called Vital Signs and they were a Rush tribute band. I was very impressed with their ability to reproduce the music of Rush. Being a big Rush fan that I am, it was the high point of the evening.

Cool shots, Jim. Have you considered ear plugs or other hearing protection? |

Left em siiting on the dresser and could not find a pair if my life depended on it at the venue. Now I have em in my camera bag. |

These first series of pic’s are of a band called Knockout John http://www.knockoutjohn.com that I shot on Friday night. Knockout John is an Oregon band playing high-energy original rock. These guys were great to watch and hear and if anyone in the mid Willamette Valley of Oregon ever gets the chance to see them, I would highly recommend it. The next set of pic’s are of Crazy Train http://www.crazytrain.us from later on in the night. I have to admit, I really enjoy shooting these guy’s. They always manage to give me the typical rock star pose when I have my camera in hand. After getting home at 4:00 AM Saturday morning and getting just a few hours of sleep, I had a decision to make. Do I head north to the Seattle area for the day and get some pic’s of Mr. Erik Buell while he was visiting one of the dealerships for the day or do I head for the expo center in Portland to check out Bike Fest and all of the happenings that would be taking place through out the day there. Erik, sorry I missed ya but as one can see from the pic's that are about to come, it was a perfect photog opportunity locally that I could not pass up! And its not the following bike pic’s that had my interest.

Now, here is why I opted to make the trip to the expo center. Whole Lotta Rosies http://www.therosiesrock.com is an all female AC/DC tribute band from Los Angles, CA. What a show these ladies put on. Not only did they look good, they ROCKED! Once again, sorry Erik!

Jim, We had plans on making it over to Seattle to see EB, but the wife was feeling ill so we stayed home. Looks like I should have ditched the wife and gone to Portland for the show! Thanks for the great pics. I love AC/DC and hot chicks, wow what a combo. Hey, isn't the Rose Festival happening this weekend? Not sure if you plan on attending any events, but if you do could you post some pics? I use to be the flag catcher for my old company's dragon boat, we took first place in 2002. But hey any shots of the festival chaos would be awesome, and hot chicks even better. |

Spudman, I am glad you didn't ditch the wife for a Whole Lotta Rosies, that could have made for some rough riding! It was a great combo though! I had a lot of fun shooting the pics and the girls played up well for the lens. Yep, Rose Festival is this weekend and next weekend. Won't be doin any events this weekend but next weekend, will make sure I get some shots for ya. |

What a day! Took the family up to the front side of the hill (Mount Saint Helens)today. The weather was awesome. 65 at the 4000' level. Here is a shot of an A frame home that was buried during the mud flows from the May 18th 1980 eruption. This area is very well known for its Bigfoot Sightings. I hope I never run into one the size if this one! This is one of my fav shots of the day. This young helicopter pilot was passing time (waiting for his next flght) playing a classical guitar (he was very good too). He has been flying helo's for 8 years. Would have loved to have taken a ride but at $100.00 per person, we decided to stick to the pavement. Yet another shot of the big hairy fellow. Here is a shot within the blast zone of the volcano. Its amazing how much things have changed in 25 years. Up the hill further, we had the chance to see one of the other site seeing helo's make a launch for the volcano. This is a shot from Johnston Ridge lookin towards Spirit Lake. Some of the wild flowers at Johnston Ridge. A shot of the hill, we were a little bummed, that clould stuck around the whole time we were in the area. Looking east through the blast zone at Mount Adams. Not too many bikes up on the hill today but we did happen across a few Harleys. A really cool beaver home that we happened to find off on a spur road. Young Nobel Fir forest within the blast zone. All five of our kids doin what they do best, EATING! Another shot of the volcano, cloud still there. Dusty (the bigger one) and Kirby (da puppy) at play. Another Harley enjoying the sites. Our trusty F150 keeping an eye on the hill. (Message edited by pdxs3t on June 24, 2005) |

Jim, Great Pic's! I watched that storm from the driveway and I agree it was awsome! Crazy weather we are having here. The thunder really spooked the dog. She is almost a year, don't know what I will do on the fourth. I bet the vet will give her some doggy downers. Your pups are so cute. Thanks for sharing! Loni |

Jim, Very cool pics. I can see why you are the pro, and me, being me, miss the entire point of half the pics I take. Thunderstorm pics were cool, had 1" hail here this evening. Exciting stuff. I've got a friend from school in Portland, a trip there is on the short (long) list... How far are you from the St. Helens? It's gotta be a hike, but damn that is awesome to see... The northwest looks awesome. Haven't been there yet, got to get there sometime. Alex |

Alex, Thanks for your very kind words. As the crow flys, we are about 40 miles from Saint Helens. By road, depends on which way one goes up. Front side is about 100 miles and the back side is about 60 miles. Glad to hear that a trip to the NW is on your short list. Best time to come out this way is late July through September. Jim |

Dino, You are too kind. We were hoping to see the new 2nd lava dome that has been building over the last year but that pesky cloud just wanted to hang out. Don't let the daughter bring the baby Boston over! One look and you will have to keep it! Our little Kirby is a little ball of fun. He likes to drag things around the house (camra bag, brief case, clothes). Today I caught him with my headphones that I use with my guitar amp. The little turd had em by the cord runing all over the bedroom just having a good old time. Wouldn't of been too bad but they were still plugged into the Marshall amp. |
