The Hawaiian Tropic shot was really low of you. Go ahead, rub it on, rub it in. |

thanks José, we sure did. the last few photos are of the finals in Funny Car and Top Fuel Dragster and are of very poor technical quality, but if you've ever been to a top fuel meet they'll still make you smile and plug your ears. |

that they are, Jim. the stands look a little bare in the pix while they were jumping because a lot of folks were still stalking the pits for autographs, but the crowd that WAS in their seats already were loud and boisterous for these guys and really showed their appreciation and patriotism for a job well done. the last Golden Knight to touch down had a large American flag streaming behind him, and hit their big red "X" target on the track dead center while still managing to twist his body around and catch the flag before it touched the ground. it brought the crowd to its feet, and was a great way to kick off the racing. |

speaking of patriotism, the US Army won two of the four pro classes - Tony Schumacher in the US Army Top Fuel Dragster, and Angelle Savoie on the US Army Pro Stock Bike. there were TONS of Army officers here in uniform this weekend, and it was cool to see - and hear - all the respect displayed to these guys and gals. |

Bomber, thanks for asking about my son Wade. the boy man has done made me proud. as a surprise to his mom and me he secretly made arrangements to take two weeks leave, and showed up basically unannounced and in person here last Sunday! it's a whirlwind tour - he's back on a plane tomorrow to visit family in Washington, then back down here next Monday for a coupla days, then back to Korea. got to spend the day with him on Tuesday - had a BBQ here at the house with he and Denise, then we went down to Bakersfield and took in a movie and did some early Christmas shopping. sure is good to see him; the Army is treating him well, and in the year he's been overseas i can see the positive changes, the growth and maturity. guess you can tell i'm mighty proud of him, and proud of his service to our country. i'll make sure to tell him you (and Thang) said howdy. |

thanks for passing the word, JH! I AM proud of him, as we all are -- (course, those feelings pale in comparison to yours! careful ya don't hurt anyone popping those buttons off your shirt, bud!) as a line animal, I have no idea what Thang's flag thingies are supposed to represent, however -- he could be complaining about the lack of ice cream for the balck gang, for all I know ;-} |
