Char does display and sell her paintings. The only problem is with the pastels...they are for sale, but we haven't figured out how to ship those safely. Watercolors are no problem. Of these, the top one is a watercolor and the others are pastels. I believe that these are all 12" by 16". We bought a new printer that can do archival reproductions that size, we have to get it figured out. Once we do, we'll be able to produce limited prints of the pastels that could be shipped easily. We have a Colorvision Spyder2 Studio Pro color management system on order, due in tomorrow. One more thing to do. BTW, she does have a web site. Of course, I don't actually know the address. If there's interest in seeing that, I'll get the address later today and post it. BTW #2, can we put names to the hooligans in the Yokohl Valley Rd. pic? Do you guys remember your riding positions at the GASM (Great American Squirrel Massacre)? Hmmm, ORGASM (Organized Riders of the Great American Squirrel Massacre)? I think it would be best if I went back to work now. Dino (Message edited by dino on January 18, 2005) |

It just occurred to me that my last post could be seen as an attempt at free advertising on BadWeb. I would ask that the powers-that-be let me know should the above post be out of line. The post above concerning Char's paintings has been revised to ensure that the advertising policies of this site are not violated. As I said, the works were not posted as a commercial venture but for the enjoyment of those checking out the Oktoberfast thread - but at some point discussion of availability and pricing threatens to cross the line, regardless of original intent. Char has a website and an e-mail address for her art endeavors and I can assure you that if I could remember what they were, I would post them. I will post them or provide a link later tonight. Of course, I can also be reached at any time thru the link in my profile. I know Char has enjoyed the feedback on the paintings. Thanks for your comments and interest. Also, I'm sure she would enjoy suggestions as to ride related views, subjects etc. that she might consider as subject matter on future rides. And no, that thing in the road between FB and Forger will not be immortalized in a painting...so sorry. Dino |

Alterations to the above referenced post were done in consultation with Blake, who was made aware of my request for a ruling from the powers-that-be by FB. I'd like to thank Blake for his good-humoured response...as well as for this website we all enjoy so much. I'd also like to thank Blake for rejecting FB's recommendation that I be banned for life. |

"Yeah...well...when ya go, leave the talented wife." Why does everyone always say that?! Oh well, guess we should at least get credit for having the good sense to marry well? (Message edited by Dino on January 19, 2005) |

And why, one might ask, do we have Oktoberfast instead of Januaryfast. Well, besides the fact that Oktoberfast sounds better, this is what the Western Divide route can look like in January... That was the view to the north. Here's the view to the south toward Ferrisville. Oops that would appear to present a problem. But wait, just do what Ferris would do, go around the barricade. (you did see the barricade didn't you?) Ahhh, see wasn't that easy? No amount of snow could keep MotoFoto's own intrepid Charlotte from going boldly into this winter wonderland. Right Char? Char? Has anyone seen Char? Well, never fear, even in January some parts of the route are still rideable. Here's a view down on Hwy 190 at the power plant. A sunny 60 degrees...and it's not even noon yet. Only nine more months! Order your new tires now! |

That was the view to the north. Here's the view to the south toward Ferrisville. WOW, great pix! not sure even the mighty V-Strom would get far in that!!! (no license plate and registration in the mail yet, grrrrrr............) D and i were up there in my truck a couple of months ago, in 4-WD from about Johnsondale on, decent snow on the ground but nothing like in your pix. anyway, me, being me, drove around several barricades pronouncing that the road was closed for the winter, and we made it to Ponderosa for lunch. afterwards we stopped on the way back to hike out to Dome Rock, parking the truck alongside the highway as i didn't want to chance getting stuck in the snow on the fire road leading out to the rock. sure as the world, an hour later when we humped back to my truck there was a ticket from the CHP tucked under one of the wiper blades, citing me for being illegally parked. seems that since the Western Divide Highway was offically closed to traffic, one could not, then, obviously, legally PARK along said road! i have to assume the Chippie hung out for awhile, figuring if he waited long enough he could get me for actually DRIVING on a closed road and crank out another (more expensive) ticket, but when we got back all that remained, besides the citation, were fresh tracks in the snow where he turned around. well, $25 seemed a small price to pay for the adventure, and the ticket got added to all the rest i've accumulated over the years. i'm pretty sure if you look up "scofflaw" in the dictionary you'll hear all about the FBI: Ferris Bueller, Incorrigible. great pix! |

Jim - That snow is goin' nowhere fast. It's dense, icy and hard packed. But those pix are well up there in elevation. All the low stuff melted off in a warm rain that ended the last series of storms. Hoping for more snow this week. |

its good to see in the sierra's. hopefully it will help out come spring and summer with the drought situation that you all have been dealing with over the last few years. here in the cascades, they have pretty much shut down most of the ski resorts. this last week has been most devistating on the snow pack. freezing level has been well over 8,000'. if things don't change any time soon, will make for a very intersiting summer come fire season. |

I am going to make two guesses on that one- 1. The guy in back is one of the Black XB12's (mike or Unibear) trying to get the crap off of new tires. 2. The guy next to the back is ME! ( tail bag and I can see a little blue). Am I right? Tell Char she rocks! Her last one has been on my screen saver longer than anything else has ever lasted, usually my wife and I make a game of deleting each others and putting up something obnoxious. But she loves it as much as I do. |

Shawn - After considerable photo detective work, I can tell you with absolute certainty that I'm not sure...but I think that the last rider is Mike and the next one up the line is Glenn. They are, as Ferris notes, scrubbing in the new tires installed the night before at Al's Garage. Char says not to put too much stock in seeing a bit of blue...artistic license and all, you know. Char's thrilled to know someone is scoping it out to try to figure out who's who...and pleased to know that the screen savers is so popular. (She also recalls the desktop wars between me and the daughters when they were still at home. Damn kids kept changing out my biker babes.) |

I was tail-end charlie with Mike just ahead of me. We hung back a bit while scrubbing our tires. With wetness from the misting, cold morning and a new tire all the horror stories of mold release wipeouts was fresh in my mind. Great picture & painting, both by the same person I think? |

The third guy up has a white or very light colored helmet but I can't remember who that was. T-Bear I think. Shawn you are either the fourth one up or farther. Wile Dino isn't in the painting he's not hard to miss in the picture! |
