Had a great time at Laguna Seca. Arrived at our motel (thank, Rex) on Friday, got settled, etc, took in Cannery Row's scene Friday night and Saturday night with my wife and Rex. We had great food and a great time. Nothing but an enthusiast's dream. Great bikes, great bike people and a really good cigar. Some really cool bikes. The event planners did a good job in my opinion, but I thought water was a bit pricey. We rode in both saturday and sunday. Sunday, we visited the paddock area and ran into Rex at the EBR area. Rex introduced me to Jim Doram, head of sales/marketing for EBR. What a friendly and personable guy. He fits the job description well. He gave my wife and I EBR caps. Nice! The kicker was getting to chat with Erik again. Last time I spoke with Erik was the ASBN Rocky Point restaurant dinner. Erik hung out with me, Kirsten and Augie and smoked cigars with us. He's not smoking cigars anymore. I am really proud of him and told him so. The man has guts of leather. I was pleased to be able to talk with him for so long. He's the man. Buell is still a great scene. Erik is the reason why it so interesting. I learned that when EBR begins to build their dealer network, only the dealers with a reputation for thorough and enthusiastic service will be considered. That's more innovation. |
