hi guys, having not been on the island since 2004 - I had this year the opportunity to ride over and stay for 5 days and watch some of the races... I had a ferry ticket from Liverpool so I packed my CB1000R with a little tailpack and set of at lunchtime on Thursday of practice week to catch the evening ferry. The weather was great and it stayed that way for the entire trip... here is a shot of us leaving Liverpool: once i got to Douglas I checked into the Sefton Hotel - right on the seafront - lovely. Friday morning i got up at 5.30am and just before 6am i was on my bike ready to get a few lap of the famous TT Mountain circuit in before we had breakfast at 8.30am. Traffic was very light and no clouds on the mountain. I stopped at Windy corner to take a couple of pics: Than at lunchtime another one of my guys arrived by ferry and we did a few more laps in the afternoon stopping at a few pubs and landmarks: in the evening we could watch the superbike practice at Bray Hill (last years winner Ian Hutchison and a certain Carl F. were in the same garden). its mindblowing watching them ride down the road at almost 185mph!!! on saturday we watch the racing at Milntown - 170mph bump before a right bend!!! and here in the bend TT Legends - John McGuiness won the race for Honda!!! which was great as this meant i get to celebrate with him in style... the TT trophy's are impressive too and apparently very expansive! John was very happy as you imagine: the following morning i was up again early and this time there was low cloud on the mountain section so i stopped at the Bungalow and took some pics: I than had a leisure walk through the paddock and chatted to a few racers and also soaked up the spirit whilst sitting on the grandstand Monday i got to watch the Superstock Race 1 and John sets off: the first race stopped due to a nasty crash at Union Mills - which meant all rider got escorted back to the pits by marshalls Monday evening i was back on the ferry to head back and it was a great weekend and i did manage to get about 7 or 8 complete laps of the circuit in too as well as riding the Southern 100 course a few times... I hope the next time it wont be 7 years before I am back on the island.... there are more photos on the album: http://s227.photobucket.com/albums/dd21/LarsG1974/ TT%202011/ anyway, hope you enjoy the short report.
