Cool story No-rice! I think a lot of people forget that most hunters are 99% of the time watchers...meaining that we like sitting around in the woods just as much as anyone else and usually more so. I've broke/lost/bent my last Al arrow. Is the transition from Al to C bad? I'm thinking of moving up a step in spine as well as head wt. |

It takes a lot of trial and error to get a carbon that will fly good out of a recurve. I know some that have done it but I stick to aluminum for my recurve. Most carbons that will spine correctly for a recurve are way too light for good penetration. Spine is even more critical on a recurve than a compound IMO, to get optimal arrow flight and accuracy. This year I wanted to up my arrow total weight so I switched from 1916 to 2016 arrows. I had to cut the 2016s at 30" to get them to fly right while my 1916s wer only 28" long. Worked out great as I still have very good arrow flight and gained about 50 grains total arrow weight. |

Awesome, thanks for the info Dave! Currently that's pretty much the set-up that I have/had-legacy 2016's at 30" with 100gr tips. I can't find anyone around here that carries Al nor any carbon feathered, so I'm kinda stuck with the internet for supplies. |

you can always call me that't what I was thinking... Just got done eating some backstraps... little bacon grease in the skillet. Cornmeal, salt & pepper. Butterfly backstrap rolled in the cornmeal mix. I cook mine until they are hot inside but still pretty red... man that is some GOOD STUFF!! served with a knife and fork.... no sides... meat does the body GOOD |

That was my plan, but I found a pro-shop right next to one of our work suppliers, so I walked in checked the place out and ordered a some arrows. They still don't have anything for the traditional folks so I'll probably be giving you a call soon but their archery range is quite nice and hopefully they can stick around. Tried to get some ducks last weekend, as a friend told me the lake was still open, so I was going to push deer for him while scoping and maybe shooting some feathers. No luck on either front, as I ran into 3 people in 200 yds. of walking and the lake was frozen in-I could walk on it. I'm still wanting to eat duck for cmas so looks like I need to scare up some decoys. I haven't had venison in ten years, but bacon grease sounds even better than the butter and garlic we'd use. Only side we ever had was beer |

Any recurve shooters-Have you guys ever used a bowstringer? I'm a fairly good sized guy so it's never really been a problem bending the thing up to string it, but I'm starting to worry that I'm tweaking the limbs a little more than I'd like and was wondering about the stringers. I currently step through and "hold" the bottom limb against my leg just above my knee and then string it up, but I'm wondering if that may be causing future problems, as it does seem to cause the bow to twist a little. Anyone else do it this way or use a stringer? |

That is the very best way to warp your limbs. Get a stringer. I know a guy that sells them(smile) Nuts Congrats on the deer looks like a great shot |

Sheesh... first it's sites, now a bow stringer, next you'll be telling me you use one of those pansy mechanical release dealios. Remember the good old days when you had to whittle arrow heads from stone and kill something first in order to get the gut for the bow string? |

Thanks for the info Dave-That's what I've been worried about, warping the limbs. 15 bucks is better than 400. I picked one up at my local establishment, took my youngsters with me and they got really excited, which get me excited-would be way cool to get them into it. They've been shooting a 20lb takedown that they got from santa but saw the folks down there taking shots at deer, turkey, coyote, and got really excited! |

Filled a late season antlerless tag yesterday. I earned it! I shot it on the 2nd walk. About 9am. I walked about 5 miles yesterday in snow. Lots of work. One walk was about 2 miles round trip. We saw 15 deer, all but one alluded us. |

I still have a tag but the motivation to sit in the tree with 4 in the freezer is just not there.... If I was looking for a wall hanger it would be different... But I'm just in it for the eats. |

only 5 months to go! As usual the turkeys are kicking my butt. Season is over on Sunday No Africa hunt for me this year. I bought my FLHT back from my Dad instead. He was ready to sell it back to me and even though I wasn't totally ready financially to buy it back at this time, that was the deal we made 2 years ago when I was forced to sell it to cover the money stolen from the business by my now EX. I have my bike back, I can go back to Africa next year. |

I can go back to Africa next year It'll still be there! It's good you got your bike back, but sad it had to go in the first place. Life sure gets tedious sometimes. |

Yep, awesome to have it back. I can now go to the garage and not be instantly pissed because one of my bikes is missing. |
