Ah, Saturday is the big parade. We've got parking in a driveway along the route with friends. Tomorrow, while we are in transit, it's Wally Gras, where folks roll their carts through the isles hoping to have stuff thrown into them by MalWart employees. Sheesh. No chance they would toss a rear tire, I suppose. Friday night is the Mandeville family parade. I shipped my notebook computer off today so it can be used to audio broadcast some LSR back east, but perhaps the Mrs. will allow me access to hers. Emails on the cell though. And, I found my 10 year old Buell cap, to fly the flag so to speak. Now to locate the nearest Cafe Du Monde for chicory coffee and a beignet or two when we hit town. | ||

Yesterday was pretty mellow... not too keen on riding on a bald tire more than I have to... today is swamp tour... hope to see some critters besides the armadillo... had a rather hyperactive one in camp last night...             | ||

On the other hand... the swamp tour was great... I get to the place and immediately this guy jumps up and starts telling his co-workers about my Buell... "See, it has fuel in the frame and oil in the swingarm..."! Turns out Captian Mel is a motorcyclist himself, having six or seven of them... and he did such a good job of hunting down gators with that big ass boat, I let him take a turn riding the Piglet... which he liked a lot !        Only dissapointment today was that my telephoto lense doesn't work... but at least I got one good shot of the gator! | ||

We saw six gators in all, with the largest being 7 feet long... he got away from us pretty quick... | ||

Gator...yummmm!!! A seven footer is a baby.... Red Bugs (chiggers) shouldn't be real bad this time of year....around july/august they are bad....if you ever get them, paint them over with clear fingernail polish and DON'T scratch them...they will suffocate in a day or two. Sad that spanish moss is dissapearing in Florida...climate change has made it too dry for it to survive in most places...used to be everywhere..now what is left is scraggly and thin. | ||

Gators only come out in force when the water warms up... gotta google this guy who gave our tour... man, he knew about birds, hydrology, geology, animals, fish, trees and plants... and Buells !!! | ||

I bagged a pant load of them lil bastards at Ft Jackson some years ago they were worse then the Damn fire ants and sand fleas GOD I LOVE NJ!!!!!!!!!! |
