Blake, I forwarded the photo of the man stealing the banner to the FBI for photo enhancement. My wife just got off the phone with John Walsh of America's Most Wanted and he is planning on doing a special segment on Buell banner theft. My wife called because I was just to disturbed about this whole thing. Just think, I may have seen or heaven forbid, spoken to this thug. |

Well on to other things. Glad all had a good time at the Gap, too bad some riders were injured, hopefully they will all heal enough to ride again, we are all praying for them. I am looking forward to more pictures of the adventure at the Gap. There are other times and other roads to ride. I'll be there, hope to see you Buelligans there and we can burn some turns together. Blake: Remind me again why it was decided to retain the "Anonymous" ability? BTW, that picture should be interesting. Ride more, lean more, grin more. Neil S. |

Great pics, Mine are still in the camera. What a beautiful part of the country. I had a great time, met some great people (none who stole any banners). And the only thing I wrecked on my bike were the tires. When I arrived in Fontana thurday night,I realized I'd lost my Teams Elves hat along the way. (Congrats to Teams Elves and all the buellers who ran on the Salt.) I was disappointed becaused it had Homecoming pins from 2000 and 2001 on it. After 3 days of great riding, comradrie, food, and weather, I awoke Monday AM to t-storms and rain. Rode out on the wet, and sometimes leaf covered and oil stained "dragon" with George from Col, OH. Also met a tractor-trailer, and many locals(What were they hunting for?)without incident. Anyway, I decided to stop at the last place I recalled having my hat, a gas station just west of Knoxville, and lo and behold they had it! With my hat in my tail bag and faith in humanity restored, I headed for home in MN. As the rain resumed and the temperature dropped my M2 began to run rough when cruising at a constant speed and the exhaust would "pop" on deceleration, just like it had lost a header nut. I pulled off the road to check it out and the bike died. Looked over the bike, didn't see any problems with the exhaust system, so I refired the bike, which would run and accelerate but not idle. Since the exhaust popping could mean it was running lean, I pulled out the enricher slightly. It helped a little, but I hadn't had to do this since rejetting my carb this spring. I then thought I had gotten some bad gas at the Texaco by the resort, but a fill along the interstate did not solve the problem. After several hours I finally rode out of the rain and the condition slowly went away. I made it home with any more problems.(Whew) I'm still not sure about the cause, but I am leaning towards the carb icing up due to the cold weather and all the moisture in the air. I hope everybody made it home safely, and wish a full recovery to the fallen Buellers. |

Tim, What were they hunting for?...BEAR! Four of us left for points North, Sunday, AM...to beat rain MOnday. Planned to take back roads to PA, like on way down, but hit traffic around Gatlinburg, Tenn. So...deceided to hit the highway and make it a one day-iron-butt run. Sunday- All highway(rte 81N)..12hrs...800miles...80mph..3,750rpms..no problems, cept MONKEY-BUTT!! The Gap and Chalahala (sp) Skyway..RULES.. Dragged shift lever, footpegs,(I have Banke relocaters)and stand! The Buell (97S3) is ideal for those roads, as shifting is optional...just keep it in 3rd and rev from 2,500-6,800!! Let's do it again next year!! Keep the pix comin" Steve |

We left Monday am. in the rain for St.Louis. Made a gas stop at the first station after the gap. One of those hunters was there getting gas too. I ask him what kind of dogs he used. He replied "I use them thar hounds fer bar...use bulldogs fer hogs." "Bulldogs?" says I. "Yeah, you know...Pits" he says. "Oh" says I. I get real nervous when any of those hill folks start talking pigs and squealing. Took a picture of his brothers. Here it is.

From reading the above comments I think it's a universal opinion that we should do this again...Everyone that missed out this year deserves to have another chance...I've looked at the climatology data for this area of NC and it appears that Sept thru Dec are the months with the least amount of rain...Think that that probably leaves us with Sept again as later it will either be leaf watchers or brrrrrrr...How about Sept 19 - 21...Let me know your thoughts and then we'll get in touch with Leslie...If national BRAG decides that it needs to do a left coast thing next year we'll just have to get it done ourselves...Have heard some express that it would be nice if we did more BRAG club recognition, rewards, whatever...I know that the DC guys and gals probably would have won a "most attended" prize...Good job Jose et al...Windy City group was...well...er..."Windy"...Bobby, hope your project goes well over the winter...Can't wait to see what you accomplish...Mariabelen gets my nomination for gutsiest ride on her Blast for 550 mi from Troy IL and then listening to my advice for the shortest route and me stupidly routing she and Josh in over the "Dragon"...Great intro to NC roads..."M" you did just fine, thank you...The best part of this whole shebang was to get to meet the guys and gals you've seen posting here and elsewhere...Great job everyone...See you at the "2nd Annual "Bragin' At The Dragon Rally" God Bless America.
