And now you know why my standard answer to the "How was your day?" . . . . is always SPECTACULAR. |

Another fun day for riding around NYC . . . we're on the cusp of some gorgeous weather. . . . Absolutely dug that Honda HINT . . . . if you are going to play the fool on a bike . . . not cool to do it in certain "high enforcement" areas. These fellows are waiting for flatbeds to come load their motorbikes. When I say "load" I mean as in "stacked" on their sides. Stupid is as stupid does.

Court: I am in one of your pics. I was sitting in front of the Guitar Center when Danny Nova was playing. My wife is friends with Danny and I was waiting for her to get there. You can only see my feet. Awesome! |

>>>> You can only see my feet. I miss very little . . . . I wander that area a lot . . . I was walking out carrying a new mixer so I didn't have the camera when I was hanging around. I went back to the office, left the mixer and shot these passing by heading West. What a GORGEOUS day that was! |

I get teased for carrying the camera around . . . but my "normal" day can start wandering up the Henry Hudson Drive (not Parkway) . . . I generally stop for coffee in the Palisades Market near Waleda . . . . listen to some jazz, read the paper and get to the construction site. I'll spend the morning and a good part of the afternoon traipsing about . . in the mud the last 2 days . . . and then who knows what. Today it was a board meeting at school to discuss the possibility of teaching at Bablyon University in Baghdad. Seems their engineers, over the last 10 years, have been preoccupied and need to be brought up to speed on some of the technologies (B.I.M. as an example) that have evolved. Anyway . . . . I always seem to end up in weird places from shops selling Soviet vacuum tubes, crawling under the Verrazano Bridge or in the Situation Room at the UN Security Council . . for the benefit of those, not yet bored, who enjoy the daily "Glimpse at Gotham" . . . . well . . here's a dose from today. Always kind of overwhelming to think that these buildings had been here for sometime before the upstart Colonists started their Revolutionary War and the United States was born.

This is my secret hiding place in the mornings . . . I can walk for 9 miles on the trails and never see anything but deer and turkey. Kinda cook to see this and then have the NYC skyline in the background |

The 3 photos above were shot within 1 mile of each other. Any questions why only 47% of the students in the NYC school system graduate? Weird coming from Topeka, KS where not only the building was spectacular but academic performance was expected to be as well. Hand cuffs almost ALWAYS mean your routine traffic stop is going poorly . . . . "Uhhhh. . . . driver, I'll walk from here" |

Great pix, as always, Court--thanks for the boots! May I suggest starting a new thread whenever you post a huge string of photos? My PC times out trying to load them all and I have to right-click and "show picture" on all the red X's toward the bottom of your threads. Hard to tell which pix are important (ie, hot chicks in boots) and which ones are merely interesting (ie, ugly dudes in handcuffs). Now, if you could get a picture of a hot chick in boots and handcuffs, that would be truly epic! rt |

You are right about the threading . . . . I may have to get Froggy to break these into dates . . I thought the thread would archive more often and instead it takes about 9 minutes to load. Fun stuff and we are on the cusp of boot season !

"Soviet vacuum tubes" I have a couple of those in use, almost daily. I use them for the finals and driver for a 1000 watt linear amplifier. They are good tubes in that they seem to be able to handle a mismatch with ease. I think I would get lost in a shop like that. Great pics Court. Frank |

Court: Yeah, I have to laugh. I should have known better. I still think it is cool that I got in one of your pics. Do you know what the purpose of the I-beams that are sticking out of the building near Broadway and Houston? I think you took a picture of it this summer. My wife asked me why they were sticking out and I had no answer. |

Court, Thank you for letting us all enjoy Gotham through your eyes and camera lens. I've said before anyone can take a picture but it takes and artist to be able to consistently take photographs. You sir are a photographer. There is something about a good photograph. A picture is usually nice to look at, a good photograph asks questions. Most of the above photographs leave many questions for me.. Well done my friend, well done. Please feel free to post more anytime the urge strikes. Brad |

Court, I looked up the rooms in that Mohonk place, it looked pretty intriging for when we finally get out that way. It was a little spendy for much more than a weekend. A bit different than TWO. Thanks for the pictures, it just makes me want to visit the big city someday. |

I think it's pricey for that area . . but they keep it full. Frankly . . I'd recommend doing the "Day Meal". We're going with the Porsche Club tomorrow and that's what we elected to do. We get full use of and access to the facilities and a great lunch to boot. For stay . . and this is just me . . I'd do the day at Mohonk and then head to the Rhinebeck Inn . . plan on getting there late afternoon . . the Culinary Institute is nearby so you can't hardly get a bad meal in Rhinebeck. Play it smart . . hit the Rhinebeck on Saturday evening . . (we like the Ryefield Suite) and set yourself up to tour the area and make the air show at the Aerodrome on Sunday. If your feeling more "carsy than wingsy" just go a bit further and hit Lime Rock. Sometimes . . . if I'm alone and have nothing to kill but time . . I toss in a covered bridge mini tour. But hey . . that's just me. |
