Fun day . . . . I kinda dug this mural on the wall . . . . This, in my mind, is PART of the problem . . . entertain yourself by looking at how many NYPD cars the City of New York buys every year . . . it used to be something like 4% of the Crown Vic output went to NYC as cabs and cop cars . . . . both are going foreign hybrid. Make you think your leaders are saying one thing and doing another? Get your mind out of the gutter. . . . . see all then netting in the background? . . that's "Trapeze University". You can sign up and take trapeze lessons . . . great fun for the kids! Is it just me . . . or is this a construction accident begging to happen? |

Ooooh...boots...then, no boots... Life is good! Thanks, Court! What I need to see is a rear view picture of a babe in a miniskirt, wearing kneehigh boots, dumpster-diving outside a Manhattan eaterie. If you can get Henrik in the picture, there's extra salsa from the HEB in Brenham in it for you! rt |

It's been a weird week.. . . . I've been "out of commission" all week and had to spend the day with Doctors yesterday. But I've found myself in some interesting places and of course had my camera with me . . . fun town any way you cut it . . . there is no place like NEW YORK CITY in the holiday season. First . . .for any of you who need an update on the status of the WORLD TRADE CENTER and The Freedom Tower . . Oh . . and here's a neat idea for what to do with the trash next time you clean your yard . . . Yep . . . . look closely. This stuff is ALL made with the leftovers as the Botanical Garden cleans up for the year . . . . . . . . and here's the drive home. This Frank Gehry building (his only in New York City at this time) was designed for a friend to remind him of his sail boat. Kind cool . . . .and just fun shots out the window Merry Christmas from New York City |

Merry Christmas Court to you and your family. Great Pictures! I have been to NYC several times but only one time as a tourist and that was in 1999 to see the ball drop on New Years. Just me and 5000,000 of my closest friends LOL. One of these days I need to go back as a tourist and see all the neat stuff. One of the few cities I need to see in detail.... Thanks again |

Court, As usual, thanks for the wonderful pictures. The "scrap" sculptures are amazing. I wonder how long some of them took to make. The bridges are really something. What camera did you use for the shots? My cam is on the way out and I need a new one pronto... Merry Christmas (a day late, sorry, I was digging out yesterday then had a family dinner to attend..). I used the Canon G10, It's an amazing camera. The current iteration, the G11, even more so. I smoked the brains from the Nikon a while back and wanted something small, but high quality, the I could walk around with and not look like I was carrying a mortar. I'd also noted that most the pros I saw, regardless of what they were shooting, generally had a G10 stashed in the bag as a back up. The Canon uses the same Digic4 processor as the high end Canon DSLR. It shoots simultaneous RAW and JPEG and does more things than you can imagine. There may be, with the G11 now out, some good buys on the G10. Both are in the $500 range and either will do a great job. |

Working all night tonight and I'm seeing things i've never even seen in tornadoes. Sitting next to a sparking 15kV cable at the moment waiting for crew to arrive. Just saw a house that is pretty well totaled ... Big (36" diameter) fell smack in the middle. Crew just arrived. Off to next location. |

Life is about balance . . . . I had coffee with Graham and Kate this morning . . . got them in their rental car, programmed a couple stops in the GPS and pointed them toward the setting sun . . . . Then some work . . . . then 3 hours of photos getting ready for my "100 covered bridges" tour and then off to look at some cars. . . . . . left early . . . home at 10:30. Do it again tomorrow . . . .

A Day In The Life...I have always wanted to visit New York, but frankly, I'm a scaredy cat. Grew up in a town of less an 1,200 people, my high school grad class had a grand total of 53 students. Whole school k-12 less than 600. The Tampa Bay area freaked me out when I first got here and that was nearly 30 years ago, it's huge to me now. I have never been on a city bus, taken a cab only one time in my life and never seen the inside of a subway. But I'm fascinated by NYC. Maybe one day I will find the courage. Your pics are intriguing, I for one appreciate your sharing a bit of your world with us. |

What a drive home . . . . But . . I LOVE sitting in the kitchen looking out the window when there is a full moon . . . . I was about 20 minutes late tonight . . . it's really cool sitting right on the water . . .when it covers nearly all of Brooklyn. . .

What can I say . . . it's just a darned interesting town . . . all photos shot within 30 minutes of Times Square . . . in the last couple days. You can't imagine how many hundreds of miles of bike trails there are . . . . I have the habit of riding the same one every afternoon but I hope to change . . . year, right. |
