May 25th I will leave for a hunt in South Africa. It is all part of me becoming the bowhunting rep for the US for Infinito Safaris! I will be hunting Blue Wildebeast (always wanted to hunt something that's name ends in BEAST), Impala and Warthog. The customer going with me is going to hunt Kudu, Eland,Warthog, Impala and Gemsbok. Not looking forward to the flight, it's like 23 hours long! WOW! Of course, I will be taking plenty of pics and will be keeping a journal of the hunt. Once I get back I will be authorized to book hunts for all bow hunters in the US. We are putting together a special Double Lung Archery, "Hunt with Dave" hunt package for June of 2011. This hunt will be open to 10 hunters and myself and will include some extra special deals! I am pretty pumped about going and expanding my business. We can book aprox 100 hunters per year from the US. Anyone want to go hunting?  | ||

sounds like a good opportunity dave. spent a month in mombasa kenya while the ship was getting some work done on it at a ship yard there. two words of advice, watch what you smoke over there(quite a few hrs a complete blur even to this day) and don't get involved with the locals(one of my chiefs did and got something that ended up getting him transported to germany for. to this day, have no idea what he had picked up) other than that, it's a beautiful continent and have fun. | ||

Wolf, Yeah, taking a bunch of stuff along with me! Some of my hunt fees are covered by the new bow I am taking over for Erika so I will have 2 bow cases. I'm sure the airline will hack me good in extra fees for luggage. Etennuly, While owning my own biz has it's merits I still miss the Buell stuff(and people)! Now with Buell being shut down it was the right choice for the long haul, I guess? In the next week or so I will be announcing another HUGE leap forward for Double Lung Archery, stay tuned  Mike Yep, being my own boss is pretty cool. Not all it's cracked up to be some days of course but all in all it's going great. Alex 22 days to wait! I am really excited about going. You are right, the plane ride is going to suck. | ||

How effective are grunt calls? I just picked one up the other day.... sure is fun to mess with the dog.... lol | ||

Like most calls, they can either work great or scare the buck into the next county. Depends on if he has had his ass handed to him lately by another buck. Don't over do it. Don't use it until pre rut. Then use it thru the rut. I usually only use them if I see a buck and he is not coming my way. A grunt or two, until he hears it, then shut up. If he heads your way just let him come. If he starts to lose interest, give him another to hopefully draw him in. | ||
